This site serves as a resource and space for faculty to connect around COIL, or Collaborative Online International Learning.

COIL involves two classrooms in different countries working on shared assignments. Courses can be from different disciplines, with students addressing an issue or gaining knowledge in an area where the courses overlap.  Full-time and part-time faculty across departments are encouraged to consider using COIL in an existing course.

Through COIL, faculty can provide an innovative, high impact learning environment where students are actively engaging with global issues and challenging a U.S.-centric approach. COIL is a useful framework for incorporating culturally-sustaining pedagogy in a variety of disciplines: students are not only exposed to different world-views, they are encouraged to bring in the perspective of their culture and community as they create and analyze content with their peers across the globe. Students also have the opportunity to develop and practice career readiness skills that are necessary for a globalized workforce.
