Retention Study Assignment

  1. In this case of Retention, Harper’s demotivation is very critical in aspects of work and life. Having been part of this job since graduating college, she has fulfilled a great experience with her colleagues and previous supervisor Jose from having great communications and managable work ethics, but after his departure 6 months ago came a new head supervisor named David in which lead to her taking on more responsibilities and less recognition.
  2. If I was an HR manager, the advice I would give to David is to be more mindful of the employers, especially Harper who’s been working hard ever since and has taken on additional work, as said I would want more social equality for Harper which means for david to take on more of his responsibilities at the job and thus understanding that david works with the entire team at the office, I would require all to be more engaged with eachother and be more considerable to our work ethic as a team.
  3. I believe the downside of losing Harper as an employee would be her work ethic, experience at the job and her skills as an employee, also having to hire another worker with her kind of skills can be hard to find especically for a marketing coordinator.

In conclusion, many work places still have these kinds of problems where many aren’t recognized for their hard work and as a society it must be established that all employees must be seen, no matter what their positions are. As mentioned, work ethics are very important in a company.

The Founder Assignment

  1. The story in “The Founder” tells how Ray Kroc and the Mcdonald brothers wanted to build upon a restaurant where everyone can enjoy a meal, but this idea was where all brothers had a different appoarch than Ray Kroc had. After being given the permission to grow the franchise and wanting to make a nationwide restaurant chain which lead to Kroc to make tons of money by great marketing strategy and supply chain but used cheap industrial products to save money rather than spend, the brother’s were not fond of where the restaurant was going under ray’s involvement as their idea was wanting to keep the originality of their product with wide selection of items rather than changing it.
  2. With the Mcdonald brothers selling out their restaurant franchises is a bit of a mix in my opinion, and the reason why I say this is because Ray’s plan into taking ownership of the franchise was in the form of disagreement and greed which lead to him having to take the business into his own hand and taking half of the brothers percentage profit. As for the brothers who had financial problems in addition trying to build their restaurant brand, it would have not worked for them financially if it wasn’t for Kroc giving the brothers a good deal in making sure the brand survived.
  3. The way local store franchisees made money was by the incoming customers due to the popularity of the Mcdonald brothers restaurant and it goes to show how easy it was for local stores to find customers. As depicted in the movie, Kroc had a marketing campaign which brought in profit for the business and locals.
  4. In the movie, Ray Kroc was just a retail person when noticing the soon to be billion dollar restaurant chain and made his fortune by buying out the Mcdonald brothers shares and from there had complete control of the brand, which lead to Kroc expanding the restaurant nationally thus marketing and profiting hugely.
  5. After seeing this great film and it’s meaning in entrepreneurship, therefore not knowing the story of “The Founder”, this has change my perpective on how I see this successful fast food restaurant and how it has become a global sensation. Overall this story really depicts the ethics of business and the cost to go to great lengths to make a successful brand.

Starbucks- Ethics Assignment

Being an everyday New Yorker, means having to wake up early in the morning, catch a cab or train, walk through a crowd of people and more simply get the morning coffee to get your day started and that’s where I begin my research on the ethics of Starbucks. Being one of the most profitable companies in delivering it’s number one seller, Coffee whether it’s a Latte, Frappuccino or ice coffee, brings in customers daily for a pleasant, atmosphere and provided serivces. In all of it’s accomplishments, it’s a company that has a well established social responsibility and pursued sustainable business practices.

To start off with Starbucks Social Responsibilities are in fact a huge benefit for the company’s way of introducing and welcoming new workers and customers everywhere around the world. Having committed to Global Human Rights due to the lack of support from other stores, they have stepped up and made sure no employee or customer is ever turned away for anything either it’s religon, race or freedom is respected upon yet bringing a work place where staff are seen for the their hard work and dedication, thus all being one for humanity. To add on is the remarkable Sustainable Supply Chain the company has made for the environment, as of record that the company had been a huge innovator in the movement into cutting back harmful materials and working close with other global activist to turning the tide on global warming, yet contributing to new idea’s to tech giants wanting to change the world whether it’s wind turbines, machinery for recyclable waste, reducing plastic and working with the U.S and EU to reduce carbon foot print and moving more to organic material in there stores in energy conservation to better help the world in facing excessive pollution, making Starbucks one of the most influential businesses to change their ways in exchange for a better future. For philanthropy is The Starbucks Foundation which is more towards supporting communities such as hunger relief, Creating jobs with the Biden Administration, volunteerism for the increase in homeless in Los Angeles California and lastly is the fair trade Starbucks had made for there coffee beans that have been distributed from different counties thus providing fair pay.

With a business like Starbucks having so many resources in it’s organizational structure, shows the amount of effort they have pursued, but it goes without mentioning the major diversity problem the companies leader’s need to evaluate, another problem I have seen is the amount of strikes the company has face for not address orientation and not supporting through the past years leading to over 150 store strikes near republican states. though this issue may be the only controversy, it’s a problem the company should really look through to prevent it from happening again.

In conclusion, the ethics of Starbucks means more than just coffee, it means to bring joy and comfort to those who walk into the store feeling that it’s a place to talk, work or relax and it’s with great commitment the customer feels welcome.
