Retention assignment

1) Harper one of the worker who was anxious because of the amount of work she had to do once her nice boss left. Moreover, her new boss, David, did not communicate a lot with her and didn’t help her to lower her tasks. As someone who was working in Harper’s position, could discourage, demotivate, and make me quit my job. She was additionally sad about the past when things were easier, and she started wondering about what was going to be next because things were going crazy. The most demotivating, she did not really feel valued. Reading this little story, I felt the same anxiety, stress, and more unproductive as Harper.

2) If I were the hiring manager, I would advise David to increase a couple of things as a boss.

Create growth opportunities: This type of retention is important because it is the investment of employers in their employees to prepare for their present and future. If Harper had grown opportunities, she could request to move to another position in the company instead of leaving the company.

Communication openly: When team members speak to each other, it makes their minds free from any stress and anxiety. If David were speaking to Harper openly, it could lower Harper’s stress and make her forget her last boss.

Ensure work-life balance: Harper’s job became stressful with her second boss which made her think to leave, so the boss as David must make their tasks easier. As long as the job got done, it did not matter how or where it got done.

Provide meaningful tasks: As an advice giver, it was important for David to make their jobs meaningful and productive, so Harper could care about their jobs, and stay as long as possible.

3) The downside of losing Harper as an employee: she was a good worker and had a lot of experience with the work she was currently doing. She also confirmed that she loved the company, and that was from her heart. Having workers like Harper, make the company grow, and losing her would pull it down because of the time, and money the company would spend on the new employee. In sum, Understanding why employees stay and treat them with respect, is one of the ways to lead the company to success.

The founder

1) What makes Ray Kroc and the brothers different from each other?

Ray Kroc looked in the video like someone with a big dream and an ambition to develop their profit by opening other franchisees all over the country. Moreover, Kroc was aggressive in his decision, pursuing the business’s success. In contrast to McDonald Brothers, they focus on having good, efficient, and the best quality goods or services in San Bernardino restaurants, and they were not interested in any expansion. On top of that, the brothers were more interested in performing their only system and did not want to take any risk regarding the business.

2) Do you think the McDonald’s brothers did the right thing by selling out to Ray Kroc? Did Ray Kroc give the brothers a good deal?

Yes! I think it was the right thing to sell out to Kroc because The money McDonald’s brothers received from their sale helped them gain money from their creation. According to what I understood in the movie, the deal looked beneficial for McDonald’s brothers in terms of the price. Unfortunately, Kroc changed his strategies to own the business.

2) How did the local store Franchisees make money? When the business was ready, franchisees paid the fees to Mcdonald’s corporation and these were the percentage of the restaurant’s activities. Further, they made money by also buying supplies and selling them to customers. Finally, They made money through Real State too.

4)How did Kroc make money? How was that different from the franchisees, running the local stores? Kroc earned money in different ways which made him different from other McDonald’s. From the use of McDonald’s name, Kroc also earned money. Next, Kroc had his percentage of each store’s sales. He also owned the land on which the restaurant was, so he received money from renting that land too. Kroc had multiple ways to make money, which made him the richest and the most important one in McDonald’s. On the other hand, the owners of the store missed the ambition or were scared to extend the source of their income.

5) Does this film change your view of McDonald’s? Firstly, before I get into the real question this movie showed the company’s dynamic history that made McDonald’s a giant global fast food. Next, it also changed my mind and made me think about being more innovative in the future, and have the aggressive business tactics employed by Ray Kroc to expand a company. finally, it positively changed my view about entrepreneurship, the impact of corporate decision-making, and the complexity of building a business.

Ethics Assignment

As African, the restaurant that provides quick and easy fast food is known as Mcdonald. It is an American multinational fast-food chain, since 1940. According to my reading, my research, and what I physically felt. Mc Donald has been involved in various social responsibilities.

Sustainable sourcing and supply chain: Mc Donald has been pursuing the use of sustainable items and collaboration with supplies to ensure agricultural methods, to not encourage deforestation. The company also established goals to gain a portion of its coffee, beef, oil, and so on from natural sources without abusing it.

Energy conservation: It has been a long time that Mcdonald’s has emphasized energy conservation and reduced its carbon footprint. It is a requirement for them to develop greater energy efficiency within its establishment and added a renewable energy option to diminish emission of greenhouse gasses. Moreover, they have goals to decrease the intensity of carbon emission.

Reduction of carbon footprint: Mc Macdonald effective waste management practices plays an impact on carbon footprint reduction. They have a strategy for recycling, and a strong strategy to reduce the waste of methane emission. Regarding the effort, Mcdonald is fighting to save the future of the environment by managing carbon emission.

Philanthropy: According to RMHNY (Ronald Mcdonald House New York), Mcdonald has supported over 59,000 families since 1979, it provided families seeking for well-being regarding their health. It is finally important to know that philanthropic of McDonald vary by region and over the time.

Volunteer: Mc Donald’s activity organizes volunteer Day to allow employees from all over the world to come together in community service projects.  In sum, the company serves over 400 meats to families annually. The volunteer Mcdonald program that can also vary by need and location.

Based on my understanding of Mcdonald goals and broader context of ethics, my recommendation and/ or sustainable business, the practice I recommend to McDonald’s is that it can do better in being responsible and good for the environment. They should get their ingredients in a more careful way and offer more food options without meat. This helps the Earth and makes customers happy. McDonald’s can also make packages that are used again or don’t hurt the Earth. They should use cleaner energy like sunlight and wind power, which makes less pollution. McDonald’s should tell people what they are doing and help their workers have a good job. They can also work with local groups to make communities better and protect nature. Trying new things and saving water is important too. McDonald’s can be a leader in doing good things for the planet and people.
