Retention

  1. What do you think is the most demotivating part of Harper’s job?

As we read in the article, Harper is not satisfied with her job anymore because she wants her previous boss to return to work and be her boss again. She thinks that her previous boss was better and they didn’t have any problems. So, she worked more productively and she was more satisfied than now.

Also, I think Harper doesn’t feel valued in her job and everything is tough for her. She feels bad. She’s so busy and if the situation keeps happening as such, she will be demotivated.

2. If you were an HR manager meeting with Harper’s supervisor, David, what advice would you give to help David re-engage Harper?

According to the article we read, I surmise that David doesn’t know Harper’s problem. If he knew her problem, he would definitely do something to solve Harper’s problem. Because Harper was one of the best employees of the company. This means that she has the potential to be the best in her career. As we know, Harper has lost her motivation and she is overwhelmed. According to the “8 EFFECTIVE EMPLOYEE RETENTION STRATEGIES” article, I would suggest to her supervisor, David, to help her feel valued by inspiriting her. Even though she was busy and trying to do her best, he must tell her that he knew she was trying. The second piece of advice would be not to overwork her. As we know, she is too busy and she feels like she is behind her to-do list. There must be a balance between work life and real life. I think the reason that Harper wants to leave her job is overwhelming. So, she wants to quit her job and find a new one.

What would be the downside of losing Harper as an employee?

Harper has been working for this company for 4 years. This clearly means every single thing about the company. If she leaves, the company needs to hire another person to work instead of her. Which basically requires a huge amount of money and time to hire the best person to fit into that position. This process will take at least 3 weeks to hire someone and then it will take a long time to train that person. So, the best solution is to try to keep Haper and motivate her to stay in the company.

The Founder

1. What makes Ray Kroc and the brothers different from each other?

I surmise the most important difference between Ray and MacDonald brothers is that Ray was ambitious and saw no limits to his dreams and always tried to reach the goal he had in mind.  Either by selling that mixer or by expanding McDonald’s.  In my opinion, businessmen should have an ambitious spirit, but at the same time, they should act cautiously so that they don’t run into a big problem that ruins all their efforts and makes them lose their capital. As we saw in the movie, McDonald’s brothers had established several branches with great design, but because the remote control was difficult and they had failed, they no longer wanted to take the risk of opening new restaurants and investing heavily in them.

 2. Do you think the McDonald’s brothers did the right thing by selling out to Ray Kroc? Did Ray Kroc give the brothers a good deal?

Yes. I do believe that they made the best decision by selling out to Ray. As we know, Ray was not a good business partner to them.  He did many things as a secret, and sometimes he did not respect the opinion of the two brothers. At first, Ray wanted to prove his goodwill and by impressing the brothers, he was able to bring them to the partnership table.  But he was not honest there either and without a contract and just by shaking hands, he convinced them that he would give them a check of 2.7 million dollars.  But at the end of the story, this case did not end in favor of the two brothers.

 3. How did the local store franchisees make money?

Due to the rapidity of the system of buying and selling and distributing food, people’s attention was well attracted to McDonald’s, and local stores equipped the store with the money Ray paid them and then made a profit.

 4. How did Kroc make money? How was that different than the franchisees, running the local stores?

Ray, who had noticed the financial loss and was looking for a solution to solve this big problem, had realized that he was not in a good financial situation.  Then a good financial advisor found him and asked for cooperation and told him a great offer to buy land and then cancel the lease by leasing the land he owned to restaurants.

 5. Does this film change your view of McDonald’s?

Honestly yes. Initially, this story was perfect, and I didn’t think that MacDonald can have such an interesting history. In this movie, I felt sorry for two brothers. They were honest people and thought that Ray was like them, but Ray gave them the biggest in felicity.

Ethics and social responsibility in Digi Kala

When I decided to write about a company that I use regularly to buy the things I want, Digi Kala came into my mind. I buy everything I want from Digi Kala. It’s like Amazon where you can find anything you want with the highest discount in Iran.

Digikala was founded in 2006 as a start-up company with a limited budget. Today, however, it is the most popular online store in Iran and the region and considers the provision of world-class services as an essential part of its mission. According to statistics published until early 2021, more than 4 million different goods have been offered for sale by nearly 160,000 sellers. It has the capacity for processing 600,000 goods per day.

I couldn’t find any reference to talk about the impact of the environmental effects. Despite this, as far as I know, they send your stuff by Post.

One of our relatives worked in Digi Kala for 3 years. I was talking to her last year. I asked about satisfaction in their workplace. She told me everything is ideal and salaries and fair trade are ideal, but because we have long working hours, few people can cooperate with them for a long time. I think the solution for this can be, they should give their employees two options. The first one would be, long office hours with the highest salaries and some other features. The second one would be, normal working hours with normal salaries. In this case, employees can choose which option is the best for them according to their living conditions.

As we all know, the responsibility of these types of companies are:
1.Price. When it comes to prices, customers inevitably want to purchase the product for the best price possible.
2.Shipping.
3.Payment Method.
4.Customer reviews.
5.Online Customer Service.
6.Product images.
7.Marketing Claims.

In the beginning, Digikala sold only digital and electronic goods on its website. In 2014 Digikala changed its strategy from selling digital goods to selling everything. So it became an online store of goods in all categories. today Digikala sells in various sections such as clothing, electronics, toys, jewelry, video games, arts, tools, and books. Since 2018 it has started selling fast fulfillment products (supermarket).

I have heard and read many complaints about Digi Kala on Twitter and Instagram. I have not had a problem with the after-sale and products of this company but let me tell you my friend’s story. She bought gold from Digi Kala. Everything was normal until she received an empty box! There was no gold or ring in the box. In the end, the company called my friend and told her there was a mistake and the post officer had stolen it! They sent her a new ring. After that, I couldn’t buy expensive stuff from Digi Kala.

I believe the most important thing that all online stores should consider is that they should be able to gain people’s trust and satisfaction. In my opinion, Digi Kala has lost this trust over the past several tears.
