Hidden messages in Marketing Discussions

  1. Mercedec-Benz The global company presents its logo in the form of a 3-ray star, which means statehood. One version of the creation of the logo found that Mercedes produces cars for aircraft and ships of unusual land transport. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Mercedes-Benz_Logo_2010.svg
  2. Thus, the star meant the superiority of the company in 3 elements in water, in air and on earth. Another version says that 3 beams are related to 3 people involved in the creation of the Mercedes car: Wilhelm Maybach – a German engineer, one of the creators of the classic Mercedes car, Emil Jellinek and his daughter Mercedes (businessman, racer who promised Daimler (to a German engineer who developed one of the first automobiles and several types of gasoline internal combustion engines) that he would buy 36 cars from him if he created one that was named after his daughter Mercedes and won the upcoming race).
  3. The Mercedes logo is one of the most successful emblems in history. The trademark of the brand is quite simple, elegant and memorable. These design features have made it memorable and recognizable all over the world. The proof of this is how people buy this car and how it is highly developed in the global market.

Careers & Retention Case Study

1)The most demotivating part of Harpers Job is that her boss Jose has left the organization. Her workload has increased, she has limited communication with the new boss, she feels overburdened and she doesn’t feel valued. She had a good work relationship with Jose her earlier boss for the past 4 years. He was guiding her since the time she has joined the organization. She has lost the guidance and support provided by him. The communication level with David the new boss is limited and though her workload has increased she does not feel involved or valued
To conclude she is demotivated by her boss leaving the organization and lack of acknowledgment from David the new boss.

2) I would as the HR manager advise Harper’s supervisor David to create channels of communication with Harper and make her feel valued. I would recommend that he spends some time with her every week to prioritize her work schedule. He can also give her feedback on the positives and negatives to acknowledge her contribution and make her feel that she is an important part of the team. Further, he can review her work load and responsibilities and distribute some work load to other team members giving her time and space to manage her responsibilities effectively. Additionally, he can offer her a revised pay package to compensate for her additional work responsibilities. Lastly, he should positively reinforce her role in the team by recognizing her contribution to the team.
To conclude he has to communicate with her, make her feel valued, and redistribute her workload to make her more effective.

3) he downside of losing Harper as an employee would be that the company would have to find a new employee and train the employee to adapt to company culture and work style. The activity of hiring a new individual would consume time, efforts mad resources. The company would have to invest time in finding a suitable resource and train the resource to perform her responsibilities. She has a good understanding of the organization and her work style is perfectly suited to the organization. She joined the organization immediately after graduating and has been successfully completing her role for the past 4 years. The new employee may not adapt easily to the work culture and the company may find it difficult to find a suitable resource with matching competence levels.
To conclude it is more expensive to hire a new employee than to retain an existing efficient employee.

Ethics Assignment

Ethical Marketing Example Conscious Coffees
Coffee is a serious business, and not just in terms of revenue. The coffee industry directly provides a livelihood for more than 120 million people from the world’s poorest regions. But also very few industries are so heavily dependent on the environment and are able to suffer so much from natural disasters. According to some estimates, if we do not correct the situation, by 2050, due to climate change, 50% of the land suitable for growing coffee may be lost.

In this regard, many companies are looking for ways to improve the living and working conditions of workers directly involved in the cultivation, harvesting and supply of coffee. In this matter, the Conscious Coffees brand can serve as an example. Since its inception, the company has made great efforts to improve the production process so that it brings the most benefits to farmers and suppliers from South America. Conscious Coffees, like Dr. Bronner’s, is B Corporation certified. In terms of social contribution, the brand entered the top 10% of companies worldwide.

How does the ethical marketing of Conscious Coffees work?
Everything about the Conscious Coffees brand – from the name (translated as “Conscious Coffee”) to the logo – tells about the company’s mission and the philosophy of ethical production. It would be fairer to say that the brand does not use ethical marketing, but embodies the principle itself.

In addition to strictly following the principles of ethical production and fair trade, the Conscious Coffees brand takes part in various social initiatives. For example, the CAFE Livelihoods program supports residents of El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico and Nicaragua who want to own and manage their own businesses. To do this, workshops are held and assistance is provided from specialists at all stages of preparation. The company regularly delivers free coffee to employees of the local Community Cycles program. This is a project of cycling enthusiasts who help their like-minded people in the Boulder area to fix and restore old and used bikes. Conscious Coffees’ team of coffee experts offers technical advice and support to farmers through the federal Farmer-to-Farmer initiative. In this way, coffee farmers in South America can learn new techniques that will allow them to maximize yields and compete with North American suppliers.

The Founder Assignment

1) The McDonald brothers were more concerned about the quality of their product and the customer experience. Ray was more concerned about making money by growing the business exponentially. So, there were differences between them and their occasional phone conversations were terse

2) The McDonald brothers and Kroc had both become wealthy, but Kroc would become filthy rich when he bought them out in 1961 for $2.7 million. The brothers figured that after taxes they’d each have a million bucks. They just went out of business, but if they kept business they could get rich for sure out of McDonald’s. If they sold this business, then Ray Kroc gave them a good deal.

3) McDonald’s, more than 90% of its 38,000 restaurants are franchised. That means the vast majority of its restaurants are not company owned and operated. Rather, franchisees take up the burden and risk of setting up a restaurant and selling burgers (and fries) to customers.
Meanwhile McDonald’s can sit back and collects money from its franchisees. Franchisees pay McDonald’s in several ways:
A one-time upfront payment of around $45,000 to $50,000 to start the franchise. Also franchisees are expected to foot much of the bill to start up the restaurant — the initial investment can be upwards of $1 or $2 million.
A monthly royalty fee of 3–4% of gross sales.
Rent as McDonald’s often owns the land and buildings that the franchisees use for their restaurants.

4) They were looking for a new franchising agent and Kroc saw an opportunity. In 1955, he founded McDonald’s System, Inc., a predecessor of the McDonald’s Corporation, and six years later bought the exclusive rights to the McDonald’s name and operating system.

5) Yes this film changed my mind of McDonalds. This is very cool and interesting story. I’ve learned how big company such as McDonalds works.
