Hello Chimamanda Adichie, I hope this finds you well. I watched your ted talk about the dangers of a single story. I was intrigued by the way you went to college and struggled with finding people to accept you and not make fun of your name. No one should have to go through life trying to find ways to change themselves. It was cool to read that you went to Mexico and studied there to learn more about their cultures and people. You educated yourself on the traditions and found that you were wrong and had been wrong all along. Your stories about all people looking the same reminded me of the short stories I used to write as kid.
I ‘am not a feminist myself but I find it satisfying that you stand up for women’s rights. I think all people should get paid and treated equally. It should not matter what age they are, what skin color they have or what their gender is. There should be as many female police officers or firefighters as men. I think that we should all be feminist because we all want to be treated equally.
As a guy growing up in a mostly female household, I fully support the feminist movement. We have never had a female president and that speaks volumes. I believe that both men and women should have equal power politically, socially and economically. We should all respect each other and be equal opportunity instigators.
