“The Danger Of A Single Story” it’s a Ted Talk by Chimanda Adichie. Adichie was a girl that was born and raised in Nigeria, Africa. Adichie begins her Ted Talk by saying how she was a early writer as well as reader, She says how she used to read and write about some British and American authors, and how that cause for her to write the same way as them and how she used to describe her characters the same way as them, until she found out they were authors the same way as she, authors that wrote story for and about people like her. Also because in Africa there are not a lot of resources and not everyone has the same opportunity, Adichie’s family used to provide some stuff they didn’t need anymore to this boy called Fide and his family too. When Adichie attended college in the U.S her roommate was surprised by Adichie’s english because she didn’t know in Nigeria the official language was English, also her roommate felt sorry for her because she believed just one side of the story. When she left her country she noticed the thoughts everyone had about Africans people, how they judge her and how sorry they felt for her. All of this was caused because everyone believed just knew one side of the story. When she did a trip to Mexico she kind of understood how people felt toward her because she felt almost the same way towards Mexicans until that trip because she saw the reality of things and the story and also how just knowing one side of a story can make you an ignorant person.
