- Zohra Kazi
Hello everyone, my name is Zohra Kazi and I am a psych major. I was born and raised in The Bronx. I look forward to this class and learning some new writing skills. My goal for this semester is to stop the procrastination and get things done ahead of time. It will definitely save me the headaches from the lack of sleep, staying up and finishing assignments. I am taking 5 classes this semester, all my classes seem easy. All my classes are in person except for one. After trying out online school, I realized that it was not for me. I also work at Olive Garden as a waitress, I have been working there since I was 17 years old. I started off as a host and slowly transitioned into serving. Listening to music and driving around is one of my favorite things I like to do for fun. Some of my favorite artists are Sza, Future, lil baby, Drake, Summer Walker, Tory Lanez, Bad Bunny and Lil Durk. I can go on and on but we would be here forever. I am also a foodie and love exploring new restaurants to eat at.
- SZE SEN CHAN/ JASON CHAN
Hi, my name is Jason! Glad to be a member of the member of ENG 101 course. This is the first year and the second semester of being a BMCC student. I wish I could learn something here and complete my associate and undergraduate degree. Let briefly introduce my interest. I like playing games like AAA games or indie games. Moreover, I also got a passion on drawing but it’s quite unstable. I identify myself as an introvert person, but I would like to make some new friends in class. If you find some grammatical or spelling mistakes from me, please talk to me and I’ll modify them ASAP. I don’t think I got Very High English proficiency, but I think I do have ability to read and write an essay. If someone ask me what categories of English language, I fear the most, I will say listening, because misconception always cause problems and something awkward. However, if the question was based on college and academics, I would say it’s writing. It is because college would always need you to write an essay everywhere no matter what major you are. It’s not just the vocabulary, but also the skills to make essays clear and compelling. I hope ENG 101-0902 could provide unforgettable memories, and the method to create an outstanding essay.
- Katherine Sangurima
Hello everybody my name is Katherine. I am majoring in Finance and I am a first year student at BMCC. The main reason I am taking this class aside from it being a requirement is so that I can practice and improve my writing skills, I feel like as much knowledge as you may have it doesn’t mean there is never nothing more to learn or improve in. As for where I am from I was born here in the United States but I come from parents who immigrated from Ecuador and I’m a first generation college student. As for my future goals I am working towards completing my associates degree and then transferring to a 4 year college. Currently I’m also working part-time at Uniqlo alongside attending school. Some things that I enjoy doing in my free-time is listening to music and going out with friends. I am very excited for this semester and hope to meet and have the chance to speak to everyone in this class.
- Jeyslin Acosta
Hello, I’m Jeyslin. The name is pronounced Jay-slean, but you can call me “Jess” if you prefer. My major is nursing, and I am a first-year student at the BMCC. One main reason why I am taking this course is not just because it is one of my requirements but also because I want to get better at my English writing. English is not my first language; even though I was born in the United States at first, it was very hard to be a middle child, raised as the oldest daughter, in a Hispanic household. I am a Honduran-American raised in Queens, where I live, close to the beach. which is very convenient when I just want to walk on the board when i want to have some alone time In my free time, I enjoy sleeping, and I often feel like I do not get enough of it. Additionally, I work part-time as a server at IHOP, so if anyone wants any free pancakes, please let me know. In recent times, I have discovered a penchant for various hobbies, but I tend to quickly lose interest once I become bored with them. I sometimes paint when I want to relax. Im very into art and craft such as origami and DIY. I hope to meet everyone in this class so that we can thrive together and help each other out, not a very talkative person at first, but trust me once I get comfortable in the environment that I am in, you can get to see that im a very friendly person that cares a lot.

- Daisy Aguirre
Hello, My name is Daisy Aguirre. This is my first year as a BMCC student. I am an undeclared health major but I’m hoping to get in the nursing program . I have taken ENG 101 but I am retaking it again since its a pre-req and the nursing program is very competitive. Aside from it being a pre-req this would be a good opportunity to expand my writing and vocabulary skills . My plan for college is to get in the nursing program and become a neonatal nurse. I am a very caring person and I would love to help mothers and newborns . I was born here in the United States raised in Queens but my parents are from Mexico. In my free time I like relaxing and being inside with my cat . Although I like being inside, I also love going out at times and eating with my boyfriend. I am a picky person when it comes to food but always open to try new things. I love anime, anything horror and listening to music. I enjoy working out but I haven’t been as consistent like I used to. I am looking forward this year at BMCC and this class but also very nervous. I get easily stressed but hopefully I find ways to destress.
- Celina Malave
Hi, my name is Celina. This is my first semester at BMCC majoring in Psychology. I’m hoping to get through the next two years and hopefully be able to transfer to a four-year college that has a B.S/M.S program. As far as this course goes, I am really hoping to be able to work on my writing skills and analyzing text more in-depth. I’m a second-generation college student from a Puerto Rican/West Indian household. Some things about me are that I am a music enthusiast. I love hardcore, alternative, rap/hip hop and pretty much any other genre. I actively am trying to learn how to play guitar and piano. I also love to go to bookstores throughout the city.
- ALHASSANE SOUMAHORO
Hello, I am Ben, my major is science and this is my first semester. Imagine English is not your first language, neither your country’s official language and you have to work on some other subjects. I believe that I just need to keep working harder till I get this degree.
