9) Why, in Poet Ali Ali’s estimation, is “the language of being the minority…one of the most important languages you can ever speak in your life” (4)? Is this a language that you also speak?
The importance in Poet Ali Ali’s estimation of the language of being the minority being the most important languages you can speak is that it allows for you to understand what it feels like to be left out of something and also shows your character by the way in which you may act when being put in such position as stated in the text “because how you feel in that position of compromise will directly determine how you act in that position of power.”(Ali, 4) This is a language I do also speak because there are many instances I have went through where I have felt out of place or misunderstood.
10) Among the questions posed by Poet Ali toward the end of his talk, he asks, “Why is it that the most spoken-about language in the world is the one we have the toughest time speaking or expressing?” (5). What language is he referencing here, and why do we have such difficulty speaking or expressing it?
The language Poet Ali is referencing is the language of love and the reason why we have such difficulty speaking or expressing it I think is because of how in depth love is, it can not only be implied in a romantic aspect but it can be found all around. It also can be portrayed and understood very differently by many. Some may view expressing love a certain way that another does not. But overall all what I think is most important is understanding the beauty of seeing and taking in the complexity every has within themselves the varieties in languages that can be expressed all around.
