The language of being a minority holds a lot of importance, as it encompasses a unique perspective shaped by experiences of marginalization, discrimination, and navigating through spaces where one’s identity is underrepresented/undervalued. Being part of a minority often involves navigating multiple cultures, languages, and systems. As a black woman in America, I also speak this language.
The unspoken language may refer to our internal emotional struggles that often remain unexpressed due to various societal and personal barriers, despite its universal presence among humans, it is very complex, and our emotions often pose challenges in explaining them effectively. I think this difficulty arises due to societal expectations, cultural norms, and personal inhibitions that hinder our ability to express our feelings openly.
