In Taylor Lorenz’s article “Snapchat Wants You to Post. It’s Willing to Pay Millions” shespeaks mainly on Snapchat’s new in-app feature Spotlight. She persistently mentions how average users have made thousands of dollars by going viral on the platform. Through many interviews with people who have made a generous amount of money, she shows how people’s average lives have changed. The article emphasized just how strongly the feature Spotlight impacted not only the creators on the platform but also an in-depth look at their lives before and after going viral.

Theough reading this article it made me rethink the way I use social media. On one side it showed me that I could make the time I spend scrolling become time I spend at an attempt to go viral. The thing about that is that I don’t necessarily want to. Even within the source it was kind of shown how it takes work and effort to upkeep the virality of your content. Continusously having to be online and keep an online presence seems exhausting.

My experience playing Fakey was just ok. I didn’t understand it at first, but once I did I kept feel the need to fact check things even if it seemed plausible. It took me a few tries to get a score I was happier with.
