I think the author didn’t like standardized tests because of her experience of taking one back in ninth grade where she failed and her teacher didn’t help all her classmates, even those who weren’t passing the class. Retell the author’s journey as a writer. Throughout the author’s journey as a writer she loved writing but when she took the proficiency test in ninth grade and failed it she began to fall down a spiral and began not believing in her writing skills and her ideas and she started not English seriously. Has there been a time when you doubted your abilities as a writer or in general? Explain. I think throughout my school life I had struggled with my reading and writing abilities. I think it had to do with me overthinking on writing and my being a perfectionist worsened it. How do you feel about your writing abilities? Sometimes I feel confident but sometimes I don't. It depends on the assignment. If it's short and simple I’m confident but if it’s a huge writing assignment that consists of writing multiple paragraphs then I lose motivation to complete it.
