Summary

The author, Shannon Nichols, was discouraged by a writing proficiency test she took in high school. She had believed herself to excel in writing and loved it but after failing the test, lost her love for the subject. This reminds me of a time in highschool when a classmate asked to see my paper for an English class and then copied my introduction exactly. I was accused of helping him cheat, my grade suffered, and I lost respect for the academic system and staff. I believe it is important to remind oneself that your intelligence/value is not defined by your grades or a standardized test. This mindset can be extremely harmful and is just not true.
