The article “Snapchat Wants You to Post. It’s Willing to Pay Millions” by Taylor Lorenz explains the new Snapchat feature called “Spotlight”. This is a feature similar to TikTok that allows users to make money by posting their videos or reels. Spotlight has been used by a lot of social media influencers and according to a spokesperson is “distributing over $1 million USD ever day to Snapchatters”.
Some examples of users who have made a big amount of money with this feature are Andrea Romo, 27, who earned over $500,000 by posting a random video of her sister frying a turkey. Katie Feeney, 18, a high school senior who has earned over a million dollars by posting unboxing and funny videos. And Cj OperAmericano, a influencer who has worked with brands such as Coca Cola, Walmart and Disney, has made over $100,000 with Spotlight.
I personally don’t post anything on social media, but i spend a lot of time watching videos on TikTok or chatting on WhatsApp and iMessage.
