In the article “Snapchat wants you to post, it's willing to pay millions” by Taylor Lorenz it talks about snapchat trying to help generate money for influencers/ creators . Snapchat came up with a feature called “spotlight,” just like in TikTok which is a known platform for shorts films,reels or videos in general.
For example Andrea Romo was 27 when she posted a video that pretty much changed her life . She was a regular worker who is a merchandise associate earning 12.50, however when she posted a funny video of her sister it attracted many views and money. It was crazy to her that a single random video would make half a million dollars.
My experience on social media is basic. I don't earn money from instagram or it definitely doesn't affect me at all.
