The Summary of “Snapchat Wants You to Post. It’s Willing to Pay Millions” by Taylor Lorenz and my response.

The article” Snapchat Wants You to Post. It’s Willing to Pay Million,” by Taylor Lorenz, talked about a new short video platform created by Snapchat called Spotlight, which makes many people earn millions rapidly. The new feature is familiar with TikTok. It is willing to pay more to the new influencers, and due to the money Snapchat paid, many young people’s lives are already transformed to other’s trajectories. For example, Katie Feeney, a high school student who didn’t plan to apply to college, doesn’t need to be concerned about financial problems. Andrea Romo, a Lowe’s lowest-payment employee, never considered being a social media influencer. She posted a random video about her sister deep frying a turkey on Spotlight, earning about half a million dollars. I assume she will think about being a social media influencer seriously. Good pay not only attracts young people willing to join this app as a career but also directs some people to create educational content that can teach knowledge in this new feature. Spite of Spotlight is a new feature with lower competition and more Gen Z users. However, it still faces a big challenge, like other social media competitors, and payments are getting smaller due to more people are posting.

I am a heavy social media user; I like to share my life, happy or sad moments on social media. I also enjoy watching short videos that interest me or funny videos that can make me laugh out loud. I know people who can make a lot of money by posting videos, but I believe the social media influencer should have tremendous luck, because the contents of the videos could be very familiar; how can you be the most popular video in those video posters and get big payment? Lucky should be one of the successful keys.
