Summary
“The danger of a single story” talks about the common mistake people often make by taking A Side or agreeing with someone without knowing both side of the story . Adiche shared her experiences growing up only reading books with the same settings and characteristics and thought that was reality; not realizing that there was more culture then what she read. As Adichie’s grew she realized how this fixed mindset could affect her. When she went to Mexico she misjudged the lives of the people who lived there due to what was showed of them in the media at the time, because of this she was allowed to grow and learn to understand things from every point view instead of judging and believing what she sees, because its not the same.
I can in a way relate to adiches since my parents are hispanic and whenever we go out people just assume they can't speak English and commonly talk to them in Spanish since its what most people go off by, that Hispanics can't speak English . Thye don't mind it but even though they respond in English somehow they still respond in Spanish
