Adam Malik Conversation 1 (summary)

In this story it goes over the life of Shannon Nichols, and her experience in high school as a writer. Shannon Nichols was a very confident writer in high school, she had felt she may have been the best in her entire school. Unfortunately however that confidence did not translate into her tests, where in her writing tests she failed twice, which diminished the high confidence she had in herself. This sudden scarcity in Shannon’s confidence lead her to fall out of love with her prior passion of reading, and writing.

When you are a teenager you are kind of like a blank canvas, and can easily be dyed any color. So its no surprise a traumatic event like this caused Shannon to lose her interest in writing. I mean I would be discouraged too if I had the upmost confidence in something to only be humbled by a test I failed twice, crushing my interest in my passion in the process.

A similar situation I experienced was during the transition from middle school to high school with math. I had lots of confidence having been one of if not the best in math in my middle school, only for me to retract my thinking after my high school experience. during the first few lessons in my high school I got distracted, and fail to learn the basics of what we were going to be learning throughout the entire year, and I ended up having mediocre grades in a class I was proud just a year ago. This experience for me warped my mind at the time to thinking I was not smart with mathematics, and because of that I retreated, and thought I had made prior to peruse the growth of my math skills.
