Animate Project

I was asked to design a character for a 30 second animation. I made a few sketches in my sketchbook to get an idea of what my character would look like:

Once I was happy with the sketches, I put them into Photoshop and made a character sheet:

I developed my character and wrote a bio:

“Seemingly friendly and almost adorable at first glance, Scrap is in fact highly militarized, dangerous robot. Scrap is currently in testing grounds in order to stabilize the functionality of the model. Scrap is programmed into three key stages. Stage 2 activates a high-powered beam launcher that is hidden away in his right arm. Stage 3 three activates the turrets that are neatly tucked in his main body. When activated, the turrets extrude from the back and begin to fire.”

Since I wanted to do the project with bone animation, I cut the design up into layers and then organized all the moving parts into layers.

Now that the character was prepped for animation, I created a storyboard:

I had a difficulty with the camera tool on my personal computer so I had to simulate the camera movement in Premiere Pro. I exported the animation as a .mov file and added sound, made additional cuts and edits, and then added the camera movement. I then exported the final version as a .mov file.
