I am from my family,
From sports and food.
I am from the sunrises in the desert.
I am from the cactus,
the pricks and sweet fresh water.
I am from sports,
and hardwork,
from Griselda,
and Emmanuel and Martha.
I am from “Please share with everyone”
and “Be kind.”
From “Always smile”
and “Stop being rowdy.”
I am from Church,
The smell of incense fumes all over.
I’m from Mexico,
Tortas and Cold cokes.
From the loss of my grandpa,
the strength of my family slowly moved on.
I am from the picture book,
the one that holds a bunch of memories,
the one that holds life.
