I believe that the best answer for this one is B) Industrial because they are only able to create goods but they also need to get food goods too.
5. The Protestant work ethic is based on the concept of predestination, which states that ________.
D) God has already chosen those who will be saved and those who will be damned
The reason why I didn’t choose the others is because you said to choose 2.

2 .According to Marx, the _____ own the means of production in a society
c) bourgeoisie
I choose c) because only the rich people are financially capable to own the means of production in a society.
3. Which of the following best depicts Marx’s concept of alienation from the process of one’s labor?
a) A supermarket cashier always scans store coupons before company coupons because she was taught to do it that way.
I choose this answer because the concept of process of labor reflect the owner of the shop making sure that nothing get out of the without him knowing everithing need to be in his control.
5. The Protestant work ethic is based on the concept of predestination, which states that ________.
d) God has already chosen those who will be saved and those who will be damned
Yes the protestant believe that everything that happen is a divine decree therefore come my answer.

2. According to Marx, the bourgeoisie own the means of production in a society.
I choose that answer because in book Marks mentions conflict between the owners of the means of production—the bourgeoisie—and the laborers, called the proletariat.
3. Which of the following best depicts Marx’s concept of alienation from the process of one’s labor?
a) A supermarket cashier always scans store coupons before company coupons because she was taught to do it that way.
I choose this one, because, a worker does not control the conditions of her job because she does not own the means of production.
Madeline Rosario
I agree with your answers because Marx argued that the capitalist bourgeoisie mercilessly exploited the proletariat. The products created in the factory were sold for more than the value of the labour itself, for example more than the workers’ wages. And I also agree with your second answer because a worker follows the rules that was taught to them, they do not own the company and can’t just do things how they want to.
Taniyah Gray
I agree to your answer to number 3. You stated ” a worker does not control the conditions of her job because she does not own the means of production”. Whatever a shift leader or supervisor train an employee to do, is what that worker going to do. That worker is not going to do nothing else that his or her leader didn’t assign.

1. Organic solidarity is most likely to exist in which of the following types of societies? a) Hunter-gatherer b) Industrial c) Agricultural d) Feudal
Organic solidarity is most likely to exists in a hunter gatherer setting, because at that time they relied on one another to survive. Whereas an industrial society is something relating to a large-scale business or a manufacturing business. An agricultural society might be confused as an organic solidarity but, it really had nothing to do with the people but, more so of the way of living regarding to farming or herding the animals. Finally, a feudal society is basically in its name it’s a fight or feud.
2. According to Marx, the _____ own the means of production in a society. a) proletariat b) vassals c) bourgeoisie d) anomie
According to Marx, the proletariat have their own means of production in a society, basically the working class working together compared to a vassal which is someone who keeps land based on who they know. While a bourgeoisie is basically royalty and the anomie do what they want, there is no ethical standards.
Madeline Rosario
Organic solidarity is most likely to exist in which of the following types of societies? a)Hunter-gatherer b) Industrial c) Agricultural d) Feudal
Organic solidarity is most likely to exist in an Industrial society because individual workers perform different kinds of labor, without which society could not function, or could individual workers thrive and in industrial people, people depend on it and in Industrial, people are driven by the use of technology to enable mass production, supporting a large population with a high capacity for division of labour. In hunter gatherer society and agricultural society most people make their living with food on their own so it is not necessary to live in that type of society.
5. The Protestant work ethic is based on the concept of predestination, which states that ________.
a) performing good deeds in life is the only way to secure a spot in Heaven b) salvation is only achievable through obedience to God.
c) no person can be saved before he or she accepts Jesus Christ as his or her savior
d) God has already chosen those who will be saved and those who will be damned
The answer is D, God has already chosen who will be saved and those who will be damned because the belief is that everything that will happen has already been decided by God or fate and cannot be changed.
I did not choose to do the other questions because I already knew the answers to them and I wanted to write about something different.
Taniyah Gray
For number 5, you stated “God has already chosen who will be saved and those who will be damned because the belief is that everything will happen has already been decided by God or fate and cannot be changed”. I agree to your answer. Followers weren’t sure whether they would go to heaven or hell. They looked for signs in their everyday life.

1.) Organic solidarity is most likely to exist in which of the following types of societies?
a)Hunter-gatherer
b) Industrial
c) Agricultural
d) Feudal
– I choose B (Industrial ) because at this time they all depended on each other to eat and survive.
2. According to Marx, the _____ own the means of production in a society.
a) proletariat
b) vassals
c) bourgeoisie
d) anomie
– I choose c (bourgeoisie) because in Marxist philosophy, the bourgeoisie is the social class that came to own the means of production during modern industrialization and whose societal concerns are the value of property and the preservation of capital to ensure the perpetuation of their economic supremacy in society.
3. Which of the following best depicts Marx’s concept of alienation from the process of one’s labor?
a) A supermarket cashier always scans store coupons before company coupons because she was taught to do it that way.
b) A businessman feels that he deserves a raise, but is nervous to ask his manager for one; instead, he comforts himself with the idea that hard work is its own reward.
c) An associate professor is afraid that she won’t be given tenure and starts spreading rumors about one of her associates to make herself look better.
d) A construction worker is laid off and takes a job at a fast food restaurant temporarily, although he has never had an interest in preparing food before.
– I choose A (A Supermarket) because however a worker is trained, is how they will work. They cannot just do things out of their favor.
5. The Protestant work ethic is based on the concept of predestination, which states that ________.
a) performing good deeds in life is the only way to secure a spot in Heaven b) salvation is only achievable through obedience to God.
c) no person can be saved before he or she accepts Jesus Christ as his or her savior
d) God has already chosen those who will be saved and those who will be damned.
-I choose D, because John Calvin in particular popularized the Christian concept of predestination (the idea that all events including salvation have already been decided by God). Because followers were never sure whether they had been chosen to enter Heaven or Hell, they looked for signs in their everyday lives. If a person was hard-working and successful, he was likely to be one of the chosen. If a person was lazy or simply indifferent, he was likely to be one of the damned.

I go with A because a from a cashier perspective they are train and everyone that I knows that get train to do a certain position perform the work only in what they was taught.
I go with answer ” D” because John Calvin from my understanding he became God already knew our purpose and fulfillment. Therefore Everyone who believe in God wasn’t as certain what their purpose was in life. This cause massive confusion many thought that if they perform good they were favorited and those who did nothing for they life will be sent to hell.

1. Organic solidarity is most likely to exist in which of the following types of societies? a)Hunter-gatherer b) Industrial c) Agricultural d) Feudal
Answer: B) Industrial
Organic solidarity can only be found in a modern society that’s why it’s industrial. Organic solidarity is where a large population of people is composed together by the division of labor which causes people to be dependent on each other. The other choices shown above belong under mechanical solidarity and are found in a pre-modern society which are hunter-gatherers, feudal and agricultural society.
5. The Protestant work ethic is based on the concept of predestination, which states that ________.

c) no person can be saved before he or she accepts Jesus Christ as his or her savior
d) God has already chosen those who will be saved and those who will be damned
Answer: D) God has already chosen those who will be saved and those who will be damned
The doctrine of predestination is when God predetermines the paths to heaven or hell using the justification of the class system. The other choices shown above are indicating things you can do to receive salvation when there isn’t anything you can’t do in reality because God has already chosen who goes to heaven or hell.

Organic solidarity is most likely to exist in which of the following types of societies?
a)Hunter-gatherer
b) Industrial
c) Agricultural
d) Feudal
Organic solidarity is social unity based on a division of labor that results in people depending on each other. For example, salespeople depend on manufacturers to build products, and manufacturers depend on salespeople to sell them. This would most likely exist in agricultural and Industrial societies. Due to the development of technology less people were needed for food production so more people focused on skills, crafts and other jobs. Hunter gatherer societies main focus was on food production to feed their society. Feudal societies were based on a strict hierarchical system of power based around land ownership and protection. The nobility, known as lords, placed vassals in charge of pieces of land. In return for the resources that the land provided.
2. According to Marx, the _____ own the means of production in a society.
a) proletariat
b) vassals
c) bourgeoisie
d) anomie
According to Marx he believed the bourgeoisie, or the capitalist class, is the class that owns the means of production. Proletariat is the social class that does not have ownership of the means of production. Vassals were holders of land in feudal societies. Anomies refers to the social instability resulting from a breakdown of standards and values.

1. Organic solidarity is most likely to exist in which of the following types of societies? a)Hunter-gatherer b) Industrial c) Agricultural d) Feudal
Answer: A
Hunter-Gatherer is a society that contained a lot of dependence on the environment but also dependence on each other. Organic solidarity occurs when people live in a society with a diverse division of labor that thus forcing people to depend on one another for survival. During the time when people hunted and gathered, there were gender roles; men would hunt as the women gathered. These expectations created a dependency on one another. Furthermore, in a hunter-gatherer society, it was common to trade with other people for resources you didn’t have.
5. The Protestant work ethic is based on the concept of predestination, which states that ________.
A persons duty is to achieve success through hard work and thrift, such as being a sign that one is “saved”.

1. Organic solidarity is most likely to exist in which of the following types of societies?
Organic solidarity is most likely to happen in a hunter-gatherer society because they’re co-dependent of each other which is what organic solidarity is. Organic solitary needs for a society to work with one another in order to function . The industrial society is mostly relied on people doing the work on machines. Agricultural society is when you plant in order to survive , so you rely on the crops. Feudal society isn’t co-dependent because you’re giving everything to one person meanwhile the others suffer.
2. According to Marx, the _____ own the means of production in a society. a) proletariat b) vassals c) bourgeoisie d) anomie
According to Marx, the bourgeoisie own the means of production in a society because they make the money off of the people who actually do the work in a society which are the proletariat. Vassals are only people who get their land because of alliance to the bourgeoisie. Anomie is when there is disintegration in a society which wouldn’t really help society in a way to produce.
