As roupas

Upload a photo of at least 3 people. Describe each person with their name (Ele/ela se chama…), their age (Ele/ela tem ### anos), and the clothing that they are wearing. Include the names of the clothes and the colors and fabrics (if possible).
If you attended lab on 11/27, you only need to do a photo of 1 person.

Watch one video and write a summary of what you learned from the video (at least one developed paragraph, or 5-7 good sentences). Try to write at least 3 short sentences in Portuguese and the rest of your paragraph can be in English.

Note many of the videos have captions in Portuguese and English. If you cannot understand what is being said in the video you choose, find one with captions that you can read!

Um/a musicista nordestino/a

O nordeste é uma grande regiao de música! Pesquisa (research) sobre um/a musicista nordestino/a e escreve uma mini-biografia sobre ele/ela.

Write a bio of a music artist from Nordeste. Include the link to one of their songs that you like. You can choose anyone you like, but a few options are: Luiz Gonzaga, Geraldo Azevedo, Elba Ramalho, Gilberto Gil, Maria Bethania, Caetano Veloso, Daniela Mercury, Dorival Caymmi, Ivete Sangalo, Raul Seixas, Tom Zé, Carlinhos Brown.

Please write this in PORTUGUESE and only in the PRESENT TENSE, even if the person is deceased (we will understand what you mean). For example, Alceu Valença é de Recife. Ele é artista de forró. Ele canta a toca violao. Uma música dele que eu gosto muito é “Sonhei de cara”

Orfeu negro — Reflection

Write a reflection (at least 200 words) about the movie Orfeu negro. What surprised you? What did you learn? What was the most emotional, shocking, interesting part of the movie for you? You may choose to comment on things like the costumes; the geography in Rio de Janeiro; the themes of love, death, and fate; the mixture of classical and tropical motifs; the music and dance; the community structures, etc.

Minha aula preferida

What is your favorite class this semester? Write a post telling us what classes you have and which one is your favorite. What days and time does it meet? Who is the professor? Give at least one description of the class. Please don’t talk about Portuguese class, we already know this is your favorite 🙂

Modelo: As minhas aulas este semestre sao: portugues, traducao, e espanhol. A minha aula preferida e portugues. A aula de portugues e na segunda feira e na quarta feira as dez horas. Tambem tem uma hora no laboratoria na segunda feira as nove. A professora se chama Laurie Lomask. A aula e interessante e especial — a primeira vez que tem portugues na BMCC!

Tarsila do Amaral

 Research the life of Brazilian Modernist painter Tarsila do Amaral. Describe one of her paintings. What objects do you see? What is the setting? What colors? What emotions do the figures seem to express? What aspects of Brazilian culture do you see represented?

Compare this painting to one by another painter from the same time period (Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dahli, Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Henri Matisse, and many more!)

Try to include as many words as you can in Portuguese without using Google translate. The rest you can write in English.
