For me the movie was incredible and I liked it, I was surprised by the ending, I thought that only Eurydice was going to die in the movie, but Orpheus also died, but he died in an unfair way, I would not have liked them both to die. I liked their traditions, for example, each one was born to marry a name that is, I don’t know the word but it is to marry the love of your life. I think that the Brazilian carnival is incredible and looks very fun, but at the same time it looks dangerous, because there are people who get hurt. Seeing some costumes, I feel that there are some that were very uncomfortable and that they were suits, and what do I know, Brazil is one of the hottest places so I saw a lot of people sweating. But I really liked the dances, they were very good and I saw that each one had their own style.
During the movie Orfeu negro it honestly surprised me how much I liked and understood the movie, I honestly hate movies with subtitles but the movie was very interesting and easy to follow. The most emotional part for me was when Orfeu accidentally kills Eurydice, I couldn’t imagine killing the move of my life so it was very sad to watch. I loved watching scenes where they would dance and I love seeing all the bright and bold colors, and all of the costume people would wear during the Carnival. I would love to go to one Carnival in my life time it looks like so much fun. In my opinion I like to think that since Orefu broke his promise to Mira, the fate of Orefu and Eurydice was never gonna be good because of how it went about. From the movie I really noticed the geography of Rio de janiero it looked very rocky but the oceans looks beautiful.
Black Orpheus was a very interesting movie. A beautiful tragedy to remind us that there is a time to laugh and a time to cry. The way the plot rose and fell as Orpheus went from singing and dancing to actually falling to his death within the span of four days. The happiness we felt when Orpheus finds Eurydice was short lived when he accidentally kills her. A cinematic masterpiece!
The fusion of classical Greek mythology with the exuberant culture of Brazil was a delightful surprise. The film seamlessly integrated the timeless narrative of Orpheus and Eurydice with the Carnival traditions, samba music, and dance, creating a unique and evocative experience. The costumes, filled with vibrant colors and intricate designs, added to the rich tapestry of the movie, representing the essence of Brazilian culture. The most emotional part of the film for me was the portrayal of love and its transcendent power. The love story between Orfeu and Eurydice, set against the backdrop of the frenetic Carnival celebrations, was both enchanting and tragic. The film highlighted the themes of love’s ability to conquer even death and the inevitability of fate.
