2. In my neighborhood, there is a mix of social classes, with the majority of residents belonging to the middle and upper-middle class. According to Reading 4.1, Americans’ perceptions of social class are shaped by factors such as income, education, and occupation, and most people identify themselves in categories like upper, middle, or working class. This framework supports my observation that most residents in my community fit within the middle and upper-middle class categories based on local socioeconomic indicators. While I am not surprised by the social class of my community, I do not believe the station closest to me accurately represents it. The station looks and feels very dated and is not wheelchair accessible, which limits access for residents with mobility issues. Its condition therefore does not reflect the relative socioeconomic status or needs of the people living in my neighborhood.
