The main argument of Reading 4.4 is that class is not about personal identity but about economic position and power. It’s not about how people feel or see themselves but about whether they own wealth or have to work for a living. Even if someone identifies as “middle class,” their real class depends on how they make money—through wages or investments. I think this makes sense because class is based on economic reality, not just personal beliefs or lifestyle.
