Summary
1.Which statistic on wealth inequality in the US (discussed on p. 29) made the biggest impression on you? Explain why?
The labor power is cut down by the machine's and the technology that is Introduce today But the hours of an 8 hour shift does not change. The working class is still exploided, and the exchange they are getting back for their labor power is not fair. Because the capitalist only pay for the 4 hours that they work and not the other 4, so they are not getting paid the amount they are supposed to get paid. Of course the working class asks fo raises in their wages but the capitalist Decreases their time in the work Meaning they really don't get a raises inther pay. It's basically the same thing, that part of the article really stood out to me
2.What could be some of the implications of living in a society that has such huge wealth inequalities? Do you see this dynamic getting played out in everyday life in our society? How so? Example?
I believe this is an old article but it applies to this time of society . Because time has not really changed that inequality we live in, and see today. some of the implications Of the wealth inequality today is basically the same in this article the capitalist that owns business ,that owns properties, that owns houses, that owns real estate, that Buy Franchise Already have money to put into commodities in order to have more money in exchange, This very formula is applied today and the rich keep on getting richer. And they use the labor power of the working class. And I could see this with my Mom who is employed in Amazon as a cleaning lady, The works overnight shifts and recently they changed her hours from 7 PM to 6 AM in the morning, Horizontal hours were from 10 PM to 6 AM, And when I asked her for the wages if it was increased or they were going to pay her more she told me that it was going to stay remain the same. I was very upset at this. My own Mother is being part of the exploitation of the working Class being used for Her labor Power and exchange for what She needs but because of inflation It really is hard for Her to keep Up with Her daily living thing and Amazon being a capitalist really know how to stay wealthy. The unfairness of today's society is real.
