Summary
1.Two key concepts in this video are the means of production and labor. In your comment, explain how you understand the means of production and labor. Give an example of each.
From what I understood In the video about means of production is it is a product that is all the things you own to be able to sell. Weather that be a product or yourself just like the guy in the video na dmany other thta make youtube videos. They have the equipment , and the selling platform they need in order to have a means of production. Also, in the video , frrom what i uderstood of what labor means is, the work you put in to making something. The gut in the video gave the example of the block of wood and by putting your time, and work in to making it a chair then you have put labor into making it a chair.
2.Another important concept in understanding social class is value. Based on the ideas presented in Video 5.1, what is value? What give “value” to value, what makes something valuable?
Value in the video was defined as A products value is measured by how much labouur it takes to produce under normal circumstances. What gives value to value is the labor onns agian that is put into making something. The longer it took or takes to making something the valuable it is. Beacuse you have put your time and experiance into it. The less time it takes to make something like machine produced the less value it has because it it made faaster and we can gave it more sooner.
3.How are labor and value related? What’s the relationship/connection between the two?
They are related beacause the labor you put into making something and the longer it takes to make gives it valuse. Something is only valuable when there is labor involved. When there is less labor the product isn't valuable.
4.How do you understand the difference between labor and labor power? Hint: this is a key difference, give it your best shot based on what the video says about it, and your own ideas. We’ll clarify and develop it in our discussions, and in my video comments.
We as humaan the working class, have both labor and labor power. Labor is the work put into something thats my best definition. And Labor power is our own strength. WE give the labor power into making something. We require food to keep on giving the labor power, we require money in exchange, we require sleeep, doctorees if we get ill, and many more things so we has the working class can keep on giving our labor power.
5.Surplus Value: what is it? Why is it important to know about, in our study of social classes? Think about an example of surplus value?
Basically surplus value is , valu on top of value. Its the profit made out of the Labor and labor power of the working class. The profit goes only to the person in charge.
