1. What is a repressive state apparatus? Why does Althusser call it repressive?
Althusser calles it repressive state apparatus because it controls you by fear, using police ,courts ,and prisn. Making you believe that you want to be part of a group. Also calls it repressive because there is no change whether you belong to a group or not.The point of it is that you do not think for yourself and you do not think of it as inequality and better yet do nothing about anything.

2.Ideological state apparatus. what are they, how do they seem to work?
Best example that I could give to answer this question is schools, just like they said in the video they are mandatory they have the future in their hands to control. In a school you have to follow schedule, submit, have discipline, and obey. You are practically being governed by the teacher. There is a system already in place in school and there is also violence even though it is not physical violence there is still punishment if you do not hand in an assignment on time, there is no freedom, you are not free to do what you want. Though the school system is controlled by fear We're supposed to complete and submit assignments on time and you're forced to be submissive.

3.How are the repressive and ideological states apparatus different from each other? what is the difference between the two?
The repressive state as I said earlier controls you through fear by police, courts, and prisons, While ideological state apparatus one wants to control your belief and for you to submit to the status quo.
