Summary
1.Do you notice any similarities in the way social class is discussed in readings 4.1 and 4.2? Do you notice any differences in the way these two readings DIFFERENTIATE between social classes?
Some similarities in the readings are 4.1 and 4.2 is that they do judge a person By their profession and depending on how much they earn it's the class they will be put into or put themselves into. And both of the readings it is More of a self-evaluation on to society. Whether that'd be a lower class working class middle class upper middle class upper class And so on. I couldn't really open up 4.2 since it wasn't working but I believe That most people including myself did not know how this worked and how the ideal view of our social class is different from one thought and from the reality of it what I've learned in the video. Probably one of the hardest things I had to learn, Yes it's true that society does put us in classes depending on our profession but we also know which class we belong to.
2.Pick the station closest to where you live. Using the concepts from Reading 4.1, what social class tends to live in your neighborhood? Are you surprised (or not) by the answer? Do you feel it is an accurate representation of the people living in your neighborhood?
According to the reading 4.1 the social class that tends to live around my neighborhood is the working class I am not at all surprised since it is I could see it with my own eyes as well. I believe it it is an accurate representation of the people living in my neighborhood. Since my landlord also lives above me and she too has to go to work And is barely home.
3.Based on Reading 4.2, do you notice a general pattern about social classes in NYC?
The reading and 4.2 did not open, but I did notice a general pattern about social class in NYC. Depending on what you do for a living, if your a doctor, accounting you'll be in the middle class or upper middle class and thatwill determine where you live. Here where I live on Staten Island Totenville is the mainly upper middle class and upper class. The area i live, there is mainly working class and/or lower class. Of course there are the projects where the social class is divided them on purpose and they are put into a lower class. So there really is a pattern and a division. Depending on where you live will distinguish what social class your are.
