- I believe that they chose the frame “law and order” because it allowed them to cover up any of their ill intentions towards the African Americans. This was their way of hiding their discrimination against blacks and browns. This gave them an advantage because now they can use the accuse of an African American breaking the “law and order”. This term also gave them an advantage of presenting segregation and discrimination as legal, and something needed in society.
2. Yes, I do believe that Southern Strategy is influencing American politics. When it comes to certain communities you can still see that some of the poor neighborhoods with limited resources are the ones with African Americans. Also, a lot of the laws that are passed tend to affect the African American more harshly than any other race. And still when it comes to imprisonment African Americans are still more harshly punished than any race for similar crimes.
