Alex D’Erizans is an Associate Professor of Social Sciences, Human Services, and Criminal Justice at Borough of Manhattan Community College. With a Ph.D. in History from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (1998-2006) and a B.A. in Political Science and Government from Duke University (1992-1996), Alex brings a rich educational background to the classroom. With expertise in history and political science, they are passionate about guiding students on their academic journeys.

diana rickard

Diana Rickard is an Associate Professor of Social Sciences, Human Services, and Criminal Justice and the Borough of Manhattan Community College. explores the sociological aspects of crime and society. As a sociologist, Rickard’s research delves into how crime entertainment influences our perceptions of justice, with an upcoming New York University Press book on contemporary wrongful conviction documentaries. Rickard is also the author of “Sex Offenders, Stigma, and Social Control” (Rutgers University Press, 2016) and an educator in criminal justice, criminology, and sociology, emphasizing sociological insights into race, class, gender, and social control.

Ime Ekpo is a journalist specializing in hip-hop culture, African diaspora history, and Black enterprise. In 2014, Ekpo launched, Old School Hip-Hop Lust, one of Tumblr’s highest-ranked classic hip-hop blogs. Ekpo has written for The Source, BellaNaija, NBCU Academy, and is the founder of the online publication Rich Black Earth.

My name is Barbara Santos I’m Brazilian-American and a proud CUNY student. I grew up between NYC and Connecticut, so I have had a great balance between the city hustle and calm suburban life. I decided to go back to college after four years and since then my life has only elevated and brought me unforgettable experiences. I’m currently pursuing a degree in international marketing and law and am so excited for this next chapter in my education!
