June 2024 – OER/ZTC Course Redesign

We invite you to join over 300 of your colleagues who are teaching their courses with no cost materials!

This OER/ZTC* learning community provides a foundation for redesigning courses with no-cost materials that provide significant pedagogical and financial benefits to our students. Redesign activities will be grounded in pedagogical conversations with colleagues, and participants will apply backward design as they create learning experiences with no-cost materials.

Asynchronous activities, including readings and reflections, will complement Zoom sessions (all except the first session on Weds, May 29) held on Mondays (June 3, 10, 17, 24) and Wednesdays (May 29, June 5, 12, 26), 1pm – 2:30pm. NOTE: Wednesday, May 29, we will meet on campus. The remaining sessions will be held online.

Apply by Friday May 3, at 5pm, using this application form. Faculty selected to participate will receive a $1000 stipend for redesigning a course with OER and other no-cost materials and teaching at least one section as a zero textbook cost (ZTC) course.

We welcome faculty who have participated in this seminar in the past to apply again, but we are unable to provide a stipend to repeat attendees unless you are redesigning a different course than previously completed.

This learning community is part of the ongoing OER/ZTC and open pedagogy initiative at both CUNY and SUNY, funded by the NYS Education Department.

For questions or more information, email us at oer@bmcc.cuny.edu.

* Open educational resources (OER) and other no-cost resources, such as library materials, make it possible to teach zero textbook cost (ZTC) courses.
