WEEK 1

Thursday, January 4 | 10am-12pm

• Introduce yourself on the Community Members page of our seminar site (link also in menu above).
• Read What is open pedagogy? by Robin DeRosa and Rajiv Jhangiani.

• Complete prewriting for “Where I’m from” poem (note: This is to prepare us to write the poem, which we’ll talk more about on Tuesday)

• Contribute suggestions to asset pedagogies read/watching/listening list
• Complete Week 1 activities above, if you haven’t yet done so

  • Read and respond to articles on culturally sustaining and anti-racist pedagogies
• Create a post with your “Where I’m From” poem on our OpenLab seminar site (how-to demo video)
• Continue drafting your open pedagogy assignment

• Read and reflect on equity-centered trauma-informed education (chapter sent by email).
• Continue drafting your open pedagogy assignment, keeping in mind and applying elements of asset pedagogies (CSP, anti racist, trauma informed) and backward design. Also refer back to elements of an open pedagogy assignment.
  • Post your draft assignment by Sunday, January 21
  • Read your colleagues’ open pedagogy assignments before our final session
• Read this brief article about open pedagogy from a student’s perspective
