Making Comics

The eight-page zine is a great format for a comic. And do watch the video in which Audrey discusses her potential zine series, “Irritating Things that Seventh Graders Do.”

XKCD is an excellent example of how extremely sophisticated comics can be made without extremely sophisticated artistic skills.

Lynda Barry shows us how to tap into our artistic skills, which all of us have, though the degree to which we have nurtured them certainly varies. Check out her books, Making Comics, What It Is (this one is heartbreakingly wonderful), and Syllabus, among others, at BMCC’s library.

Studio in a School offers daily prompts for sketching exercises.
