2. About User Interfaces

In this first module we will examine different kinds of user interfaces, both on and off-screen, and the various ways in which people interact with them. Focusing on web and mobile interfaces, we will introduce UI design patterns, and guidelines for designing active interface elements. We will start designing our own UI elements, implementing these patterns and guidelines.

Welcome to MMP 200! This class is an introduction to the topics and goals of this course, and to the way it will be conducted. We will review the class website and outline the course requirements and topics. We will define the two central topics of this class: User Experience Design (UX) and User Interface design (UI). And we will describe the tasks performed by UX and UI designers.
