Materials & Requirements

On this page, you will find all the guidelines for asynchronous activities. They might be adjusted over the course of the semester so please check this page regularly.

We will use Google Drive to submit assignments. Our shared Google Drive folder will only be accessible to students enrolled in the class and through your preferred email address.

Week One (to complete by 2/4)

Week Two (to complete by 2/11)

Week Three (to complete by 2/20)

  • Complete and submit the Digital Imaging Project: Upload all the following files in the shared Google Drive Folder > Your name > 1_Imaging:
  1. The sketch for your avatar
  2. The Illustrator file for your avatar (.ai)
  3. The original AI generated image (.jpg)
  4. The Photoshop file (.psd) with the AI generated background image, filters, and avatar on separate layers.
  5. The web-ready image exported to JPG at 1500 x 1500px
  6. The completed statement, exported to PDF

Week Four (to complete by 2/27)

Week Five (to complete by 3/11)

  • Complete and submit the Audio Project: Upload all the following files in the shared Google Drive Folder > Your name > 2_Audio:
  1. The script and/or list of sounds you created to plan the project (in Word, PDF or JPG – here’s an example)
  2. The Audacity file (.aup3)
  3. The .mp3 file
  4. The completed statement, exported to PDF

Week Six (to complete by 3/18)

Week Seven (to complete by 3/25)

  • Take Quiz 2: Animation on Brightspace
  • Continue working on the Animation Project (due by 4/1)

Week Eight (to complete by 4/1)

  • Complete and submit the Animation Project: Upload all the following files in the shared Google Drive Folder > Your name > 3_Animation:
  1. The Animate file (.fla) for your animation project, containing 3 scenes: a. straight motion, bounce, emotion
  2. The web-ready .mp4 file with all 3 scenes (export instructions from Animate to .mp4 are included in the Animation Project Video)
  3. The completed storyboard for your animation, exported to PDF or JPG
  4. The completed statement, exported to PDF

Week Nine (to complete by 4/8)

Week Ten (to complete by 4/15)

  • Complete and submit the Web Development Project: Upload all the following files in the shared Google Drive Folder > Your name > 4_WebDev:
  1. The proof from your Twine mapping draft exported to PDF.
  2. The completed statement, exported to PDF. Make sure it includes the link to your full, working site uploaded to Github.

Week Eleven (to complete by 4/22)

Week Twelve (to complete by 4/29)

  • Take Quiz 3: Web Development & Programming on Brightspace
  • Complete and submit the Programming Project: Upload all the following files in the shared Google Drive Folder > Your name > 5_Programming:
  1. The completed statement, exported to PDF. Make sure it includes the link to your sketch on the p5 editor

Week Thirteen (to complete by 5/6 )

  • Watch the Final Project Video
  • Start working on the Final Project (see video above for guidelines and tutorial and this grading rubric) (due by 5/20 late submissions will NOT be accepted). You must submit your proposal – creative brief and sketches – and get it approved before working on any final files. Failure to do so will impact your grade for the project.
  • You may use these HTML/CSS files (live version here) as a template for the website you will use to share your project (but also feel free to create your own from scratch).
  • Make an appointment with Prof Pinkas or Yi during office hours to review your progress on the final project before it is due (if none of the day/times listed work for you, please email me at: apinkas@bmcc.cuny.edu)

Week Fourteen (to complete by 5/13)

  • Continue working on the Final Project (due by 5/20).

Weeks Fifteen (to complete by 5/20)

  • Complete and submit the Final Project: Upload all the following files in the shared Google Drive Folder > Your name > 6_Final:
  1. Creative brief, completed and exported to PDF
  2. Sketches, exported to PDF or JPG (will vary depending on what you are creating – they may include script for audio, story draft, storyboard for animation of interactive sketch, sketches for comics panels, posters, logos etc.)
  3. Master-files (will vary depending on what you are creating – i.e: .psd, .ai, .aup, .fla etc.)
  4. The completed statement, exported to PDF. Make sure it includes the live URL to your site uploaded to Github, as well as credits for media created by others (if applicable).
