Kenneth Ruiz – Character Design

Since I wanted to make a robot as the protagonist, I took inspiration from robotic characters like Bastion from Overwatch at first, before eventually taking more design cues from characters like Punk from Mega Man 10.
Starting with a simple and toy-like design, I figured that I wanted the protagonist to have a bit more personality to him, having sharper edges, leading to the second design. Still, I felt that it lacked a few key features.

In the final design, I decided to give it a cannon not only to give it more functionality but also as a way to sell the aggressiveness. I would’ve added a few more features, but I figured that in this case, simplicity would help me a lot more in the long run.
