Introduction to Video Game Design Fall 2023
I’ve made some new changes on my layout. Though, I have a few errors showing on the script.
A rule with MR. SCREAM is that everything has to SCREAM.
Though I could do better then these lol
If only I had the time, like when making the Mario Jurassic World gbg game I made. The Sprites scream game are currently placeholder, for now because I only have one day off a week. The tileset is simple placeholder graphics, so there isn’t much..
Oh yeah, this was a spritesheet I was planning to use for a unrelated 2d experiment, though these aren’t used, I will probably use them if we start making a 2d game.
Here’s is my spritesheet with my first Godot scene.
The second named character from my series has made their first physical appearance in my projects, His name is Alden Copag and he is meant to be Rins Secret Forest guide when she wakes up in his cabin after the events of the Reminiscence Web-project.
I went through some audio and lighting passes to add some depth and natural ambience to the level. some natural god rays, warm torch lighting, and a few interior and exterior audio loops I put together in Audacity. I’ve also replaced some static sprites with animated ones like the campfire and torches, added some variation between background and foreground props, and gave both Rin and Copag breathing audio loops.
I also wanted to get ahead and try out some dialog tutorials to see if I could set up a small intro with Copag, but the videos i was finding were a bit too outdated, complicated, or not really tutorials but showcases of different plugins, so ill just save it for the time being.
Tilemaps/Tilesets
I actually ended up just splitting the decoratives individually so i could just place them as objects, I intend on adding some more variety to the trees and make more bushes and grass for when i start extending the level out.
The first few frames for my game character Zvoruna, a little demon-beast of darkness thingy. Idle animation is just her blinking, only 2 move and 1 jump animation for now, planning to add more.
Pixel art is difficult! I falsely believed that sprites with a lower pixel count were easier to make, but I’m finding that every individual pixel requires a lot of care exactly because your total working space is limited, so you have to really use what you do have and make it work in a smart way.
All in all, having a good time. Environment art forthcoming!
