MMP 270: Introduction to Video Game Design
BMCC Fall 2021
Here’s my first godot scene with Mushroom walking in a maze.
Sonic was really a successful and fun game to play. I had too many memories of it. The character is unique and well designed. I was always fascinated by its blazing speed and its edge attitude.
Angry birds were and still a successful game. The idea of this game is creative and have many levels in it. A variety of tilemaps, tilesets, obstacles.. and of course we can’t forget the protagonist, the red bird
In 2016, people went crazy about this game, and of course, how can I miss Pokemon Go, it was my favorite too. Imagine playing a game where you can hunt virtual creatures, it makes you feel like you are playing in the real world.
The scenery I decided to create is a glowing tavern sign, a street light, and a cloud of smoke along with parallax green clouds in the sky.
For this portion I wanted to keep the aesthetic of the characters cohesive so the enemies are robots as well called “Cyrex” and I made little triangular obstacles.
I kept it simple and cohesive since my game’s scenery and overall aesthetic are outdoorsy. So I just enriched the color and added flowers to be more original from the examples given in the YT video.

I wanted to keep it simple and use lighting animation since the main character is a robot so I created a lampost that lights up green and yellow. Another one that lights up red and an opening that is a portal. The door was tricky to design, it kept looking tacky to me. Might revise it again later.
I made an NPC named Ekko who rides on a hoverboard so I animated particles indicating that its pushing wind off the ground to lift him up, My inspiration for the portrait I used the Starfox portrait design and matched it with this character and for others I want to create.
