Open Lab Intro

Normally, I’d go for every category but I’ll mainly go for the art categories. If I have the time, I’ll try the other categories since I do want to learn other skills on my own time. I already have plenty of experience to focus around the art category, but sometimes its nice to have some other skills aside from drawing or animating.

For my skill tree I plan to focus mainly on programming. I can’t draw characters, but I am able to design an interface. I find the coding to be easier overall, though.

Skill Tree Path

I chose to focus more on the programming side because it’s the part I’m most interested in. I would like to try every step, but I’ll try to do my best on these for now. I can’t wait to see how it goes.

OpenLab Intro – Skill Tree

After a couple of the basics for game development such as programming is taken care of, I want to focus more on everything that will surround the player in the game. This is when scenery, platforms, gameplay sound effects, and background music kick in and really do their part. I’d like my players to be a UH for the world this game takes place in (Without stopping the suspension of disbelief). : )

Open Lab Intro – Skill Tree

For my skill tree, I decided to focus on the Artist labs, with also design and sound labs

For artists, I am really interested in all the Character Designing and Obstacles and Enemies, so I checked out these labs.

For Designer, I am also very interested in Level and Portal labs because of the idea of creating the platform of the game.

Finally, I add two of the Sound labs to learn more about the game music and lastly the Publishing.

Skill Tree – Leighton Snyder

I’m interested in every aspect of game design and find it hard to narrow down to a specific track, so it’s really difficult to not check every box! I realize that even this tree I filled out is probably not too realistic. I love art and animation, but I’ve had a little more experience with that in other classes. So, I figured I’d focus most on learning the developer and designer side of things. I’ve had some very light experience with Godot (just messing around) and look forward to learning more about it! I’m especially interested in NPCs and dialog systems, as I have no idea how to begin with that.

…and I still filled out most of the art tree, and that might just be me being optimistic, but I am still interested in how those things are integrated into Godot specifically. That said, I know a lot of other people are focusing on art, so I don’t mind filling in if there are any voids in other areas! (at least within my ability)
