MMP 270: Introduction to Video Game Design
BMCC Fall 2021
I created a background that contains a bridge, city, and water in a background with the bridge moving at a faster rate compared to the city in the far background
The scenery I decided to create is a glowing tavern sign, a street light, and a cloud of smoke along with parallax green clouds in the sky.
I made an NPC named Ekko who rides on a hoverboard so I animated particles indicating that its pushing wind off the ground to lift him up, My inspiration for the portrait I used the Starfox portrait design and matched it with this character and for others I want to create.
I created a toxic pipe obstacle and chemtank bad guy that is in a suit with purple liquid filling the helmet and when the character dies the purple liquid spills out onto the floor as they fall over, I created frames for my static obstacle too but it gave me some problems when trying to put in an animated sprite instead, another issue I’m trying to figure out is why my enemy seems to be moving backwards when they start to move.
I decided for the reward to be a purple vial of chemicals that when collected is splashed on the floor, and with the life up I used as reference the character’s hunt mark from the original source and turned it into a recognizable 1up icon. Below is a video showing it work in Godot
The Idea I’m going for my tilesets is having a cobblestone road that has stains of green corrosive chemicals staining the sides and top of it of an unruly undercity known as zaun.
This is the animations for my character showing the Idle, attack, hit, death, walk and Jump animations.
The character is Warwick a character from league of legends and soon to be a part of the show Arcane, for the first sprite it’s a sideways angle for a side scroller, this would be a good sprite to use for an action sidescroller or even platformer. The second sprite is similar to how he’d look in a top-down RPG. The last sprite would be for a more chibi style such as something from pokemon. All of them still retain the artistic design of the character regardless of style or angle. I also tried to create different designs for two other characters vi and jinx trying to show how vi is more of a sturdy fighter while jinx is a physically weak character that uses firearms as seen by her giant Gatling gun on her back.
