Title: First and Final Battle
Semester/Year: 2nd Year 1st Semester
Programs: Audacity, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects
Caution: The sound is a bit loud, so do be a bit wary.
Description:
My first process was coming up with the designs for the characters, backgrounds, and RPG aspects of my project. I had wanted to try my hand at creating an animation around a slime’s eventual victory in a battle. The style was to emulate an 8-bit retro game similar to the old Nintendo NES games. So using Adobe Illustrator I had tried my best attempt to create the slime and player character along with many other user interfaces one would normally see in a game.
After those were done, I imported the PNG exports as those were the only ones with a transparent background, and added the animations to everything. This was the most time-consuming part as I was matching and timing the animations; seeing which PNGs should come up and where. Such examples of animation were changing the opacity and transforming the image’s position. To sell a bit on the game aspect, I figured the animation would need sounds for everything so that led me to Audacity where I had generated a lot of noises, tones, and plucks. For those, effects would be needed such as pitch and tempo changes which gave me lots of options to go through to be able to make sound effects and maybe a few songs.
In the end, the project has helped me to appreciate the work that goes behind the art, programming, and sound design of projects. All images, sounds, and animation were done by me with exception of sounds generated by Audacity. Thank you for reading.
