Hi my name is Yisheng, I picked this course because I enjoy watching and drawing anime stuffs. I’m looking to improve my understanding on animation in order to improve on my drawing skills in the future. I am majoring in Animation and Motion Graphics, I’m planning to learn 2D drawing and 3D modeling this year and become a freelance illustrator, an animator or a 3D modeler. I’d like to recommend my favorite animator/illustrator: Yoneyama Mai.

Hello, my name is Cassandra Cortez and I am majoring in Animation and Motion Graphics.
I mainly chose this course to expand on ways I can express myself through my art than just a still image. I enjoy the Studio Ghibli art style and semi-realistic digital/traditional art. My main goal is to become a freelance artist/animator and share my animations with others. Oh, I also have two 5-year-old cats and I enjoy making body-horror illustrations. <3
Journal Entry – Week 1
Hello, my name is Sarriah Emerald Sage! I am an animation and motion graphics major. I love to create funky character designs. I specialize in creating digital art pieces. I am striving to become an animator and creative director once I finish my degree. I also hope to continue my education at a bachelor’s program at FIT. I am 16 years old; I will be turning 17 on August 10th. I was born in the Bronx, I grew up in East Harlem, and now I reside in Staten Island.
Name an animated film or tv show that you like. – A huge fan of The Simpsons. If I had to pick a film I truly enjoyed it would be Ponyo.
Why do you think you like it? The Simpsons because it is very funny and it talks about a lot of common issues during its time period. Ponyo I love because of the detail in the film. They put in a lot of work in that film.
Is it the characters, the animation techniques? The characters in The Simpsons are all great. Homer Simpson and his son Bart are hilarious. In Ponyo, definitely the animation techniques.
Include this in the journal post. Research the studio/artist that created it as well as the date it was created and include this information in your post. Studio Ghibli I know created the movie Ponyo. The Simpsons originally started on Tracey Ullman show as a short series. Once the show made it’s official debut, it was under Fox Studios.
Prompt 1
What is your name? Joseph.
Why did you pick this course? Genuine/General Interest, and its required.
Is there a particular genre/era/type of animation you’re interested in learning more about? Anime. Disney PRE-Renissance and the technology they used even.
What is your major? Animation and Motion graphics
Include a few fun facts about yourself (hobbies? pets? favorite food?) Hobbies include drawing, singing, baking, and computer editing.
What are your career goals? I’m currently fishing the sea but I do know I want my career relevant to major.
Prompt 2: Name an animated film or TV show that you like: I have a lot but let’s go with Madoka Magica.
Why do you think you like it? Is it the characters, or the animation techniques? The overall art style of Madoka Magica will never fail to captivate me because of its blend of Anime and Russian-inspired art. The symbolism and meaning behind the story, the literature, and psychological and horrific elements. The animation is just so fluid, gorgeous, and whimsical, and whenever it blends I just find it amazing.
Research the studio/artist that created it as well as the date it was created and include this information in your post: The anime was released by Studio Shaft. It was released as a 12-episode Anime in 2011, then later re-released as two separate animated feature films with better visuals both being released in 2012, following it up with a sequel film in 2013, and another upcoming sequel in 2024.
Please tell us a bit about yourself.
What is your name? Hi my name is Jovany Fuentes
Why did you pick this course? I have always had a love towards animation and cartoons growing up. It was a requirement to take a World Culture and Global Issues course. I said why not take a course which I have a love and passion for.

heya! my name is michelle, i am majoring in animation and motion graphics. i have always been fond in the arts and i have been drawing since forever (i got serious about art in 10th grade). i picked this course because i love animated movies, shows, and shorts and i want to know the history of animation from earlier animation, walt disney, to now. a specific era i want to learn more about is disney renaissance, propaganda (controversial but i still wanna learn about it), anime, studio ghibli. i am an artisit who loves movies and shows and for my career goal is to create my own animated series and movies but independently not in the industry (tragically) and the reason why i want that to be my career choice is because the amount of movies and shows i watched has given me inspiration, comfort, and saved me. And i just want to see people say that my work has inspired them like how movies and shows have done to me.
