About Me
Be like a seed, survive the deluge and then grow. This is one of my teaching philosophies, given that wrestling with topics is what permits the distillation of content as well as expansion thereof. I have over 25 years of experience as both an Educator and Efficacy Consultant and have advised political candidates both domestic and foreign, educational leaders, junior banking personnel at Fortune 500 companies, and start-up business owners on their organisational design and operations, in addition to offering optimisation services, strategic planning, and both reframing and retooling of marketing plans. I love analysing texts as well as bringing them to life which is a chief reason I am a lectrice (lector) in more than one language as a means of bringing the text to life for the auditor.
As an Efficacy Consultant, I streamline operations and design need-based sustainable solutions for households, educational institutions, sole proprietorships and small firms.
Academic Interests
Action Research:
–Mitigating the prevalence of stereotypes in audiovisual media and other texts to facilitate achievement (specifically, academic and career) and social justice
–Optimising immigrant and first-generation college students’ use of financial aid and scholarships
–Enhancing students’ cross-cultural communication skills toward facilitating their cultural competency in the global work arena
–Analysing anisolectical and anisocultural communication between genders and across cultures through the assessment of gender-based cross-cultural communication patterns and styles
–Facilitating student achievement and communication, as well as problem-solving skills, through cross-cultural problem-based learning collaborations with peers across the globe (e.g., intercultural exchanges, COIL, Global Solutions (IREX) Challenges, Conversations and Small Grants Project, to name some).

First Year Experience (FYE) Teaching Resources for Faculty

First Year Experience (FYE) Teaching Resources for Faculty

How can we contribute to student success–success not only academic, but also emotional and social–during their time at BMCC? Students’ first year experience is especially important in developing and nourishing their sense of purpose and belonging, their love of learning, access to services and resources, as well as students’ exploration of career paths and citizenship. This is the goal of FYE-embedded courses, and here is a resource site with relevant materials for faculty. We welcome contributions.
