Dev Log 7!

Hm. Getting a sense of Deja Vu here. Almost like I just did one of these. Well anyways, we’ve got some big news at Astral Temple INC!

First things first, it turns out that mysterious box? It leads DEEPER into the temple. It doesn’t exactly look like it, but this new area is probably just a little shy.

It’s very roomy! A little more dangerous too……but there’s also more strawberries! I wonder if they mean anything? Oh and on more important matters, there’s this weird mace/whip looking thing in the hallway. Surely it’s not important……..right?

(Well I mean it is. I spent the time modeling the thing so if it isn’t there’s a future version of me that’s angry as all hell.)

Dev Log 6!

So it’s time to play a little bit of catch up. The Astral Temple Finally decided to major in Graphic Design! It made an absolutely stellar Main Menu, with both a Start and Quit button! (Don’t make fun of it, it’s the temples passion and hopefully we can swap it out with an ACTUAL title screen)

In other news, we talked to the strawberries and both agreed that being a little genetically modified to be larger than an actual person was kinda creepy. They’ve shrunk by about 40%, and are now cuter than before!

Finally, the drop into the ENDLESS VOID at the end, is now just a mysteriously blank box….. None of us know how It got there, and frankly none of us want to ask it to leave.

This was supposed to be sent out sooner, but I was silly and forgot so there’s gonna be one immediately after this :3

Dev Log 5

It’s been a minute, but the show doesn’t stop!

….or the coding for that matter.

After some very, very, VERY painful coding sessions, there’s now a double jump and a sprint button! I can’t take a screenshot of jumping or sprinting because well….motion. But here’s the code for it!

This was a nightmare! It took way longer than I thought it would to complete! THE CODE LOOKS SO SIMPLE! IT TOOK ME HOURS!!!!!

But it works! And that’s what matters.

I also spoke to the rocks, and we’ve come to an agreement that as long as they get paid for it, you can pick up, kick, and throw them all you want. (Don’t tell them I’m not paying them. Physics just started to work on them out of nowhere and I’m not about to mess with them.)

I’ll tell you about the super secret DEPTHS of the Temple when more of it is done, but for now all you get is this ominous gateway…..

(which I mean, isn’t too ominous now that I’m looking at it again.)

Dev Log 4!

Welcome back, you know the vibe already.

Someway, Somehow, the Temple got the approved budget to add MORE walls outside and to expand the land around it. Probably for the vibes (and so it doesn’t completely look like it’s floating in the middle of nowhere)

Plus, the Respawn Barrier and Strawberries now both actually work! Falling into the INFINITE VOID doesn’t have any lasting repercussions (as far as we know) and Strawberries can be picked up for fun! There’s 3 around the temple so far, but maybe there’s more?

Of course most of this work today was scripting work, so it was really just going back and fixing those, but also…..breaking how physics work?? Seriously the temple just doesn’t like when things other than you move. I wanted to pick up some rocks as a souvenir and kick some others for fun, but it just won’t let me.

Look at it. It’s just sitting there. Laughing at me. Probably Laughing at you too. Rocks don’t care. I’ll get em eventually, and when I do I’m chucking it off the world.

Dev Log 3!

Well it’s that time again. Weird to think I’ve only done three of these?? At least I think I’ve done three…..

Anyways that’s not the point, this week was mainly spent coding a bunch of systems, like the collectables, redoing the respawn, etc. (None of them work. You’d think I’d hit the mark on at least one.)

Not many photos really, also added some platforms for the first half of the Temple!

That’s about it though. There’s also Berry.

Dev Log 2!

It’s a new day, which means a new dev log! Got a lot done this time, legitimately too. I’m still not 100% sure what I want the game to be but I’m thinking a fast paced platformer? Lots of pits, fun movement, etc. Anyways here’s the level I was working on! I call it “The temple of the Astral Plane”.

It’s……less of a temple but more of just a block with a pyramid in the middle. But It’s still something! The stairs lead downstairs, but there’s nothing down the stairs. So I guess it leads nowhere?

Dev Log 1!

You already know what time it is, considering it’s in the title. It’s Dev log time! Both a lot, and almost absolutely nothing, really happened this week. We’ve got some baseline models down and a small playable area, as seen below

I also learned it is very much possible to fall off of the map you make, and there aren’t any dev barriers that teleport you back to the top. I can’t believe I have to make those myself, what kind of lazy dev doesn’t have them?? (me.)
