Jones Family

I would not categorize the way Jones family is living for personal selling because it is a way to misrepresent their life style and they are living a fake life .Jones family is using expensive products and connecting with other people making them friends in order to increase sales, which is a good strategies for sales, how ever people might buy products that are out of their budget, just to show that they are also living at the same standard as the Jones family is, this can lead to financial problems in the future and also increase debt for the families that cannot afford the products.

The similarities I see between the sales tactics and my favorite brands are that  they are being referred from a friend or while hanging out with them, for example a few years back I was having a foot pain while walking, even though I tried all the different brands so what happened was I went with my friends to play basketball and over there my friend referred me to try out Nike shoes, which I did even though they were out of my budget at that time, But they did help relieve my foot pain, Brands hire people to promote them or they pay you a percentage for referring there products  and that is exactly what happened with me.

I have mix point of views on weather the products being marketed are ethical or not.I think that the best marketing strategy is to show people that you are also using the same products to increase there confidence. However if the products you are marketing for are expensive and you are trying to sell it to people who cannot afford it that is unethical because they might end up buying the products by taking a loan or increasing their debt and in the future they might have problems financially.

I would feel unsafe around them because if I did get really close with them and they started inspiring me to buy the products that they are using , and I started trusting them, I would be very disappointed when I would have found out there secret, because if the people are not genuine, then there is no point of getting close to them, It just means that they are using you and setting up high expectations which I might have a hard time fulfilling.

The Joneses

  • Would you categorize the way the Jones family lives as personal selling? Why or why not?

I consider the way the Jones family lives as personal selling because they sold all their products and  services by gaining the customers trust. They invited people into their life and gained their trust therefore the customer trusted the products and services.

  • What similarities do you see between the sales tactics the Jones family employs and the marketing tactics of some of your favorite brands? Give an example.

The Jones family like many brands used a an individual’s popularity to sell items that might not sell well on their own. When the Jones family had a party in their home they were able to sell frozen food to people who normally wouldn’t think twice about it. It’s like W.H.O. using celebrities in commercials to get people to get vaccinated.

  • Based on what you read in the course materials and what you observed in this movie, do you think the way products are marketed in this movie is ethical?

I do not feel the the Jones family marketed their products ethically. They had no real attachment to the products. They barely used most of it. They said and did whatever they had to just to make a sale.

  • How would you feel if you were friends with someone in the Jones family before you found out their secret? What about afterward?

I think I would understand. I work retail and gave false compliments to make a sale. However,  I did nothing as extreme as the Joneses. They were salesmen trying to sale products. They were doing a job. However, I would be a little upset I was lied too.

The Jones

  • Would you categorize the way the Jones family lives as personal selling? Why or why not?

Beside my personal opinion on the Jones family, I would say yes, it is a personal selling. Personal selling uses in-person interaction to sell products and services. They were acting like a family to promote their product. As of today, so many influencers advertising for many products and they are acting like they are being using them to make people buys more from it. For example, the youtubers who advertise for beauty supplies saying it helped with acne or dark spot, I’m still buying some of their product with no result. So those youtuber are also selling as a personal selling.

  • What similarities do you see between the sales tactics the Jones family employs and the marketing tactics of some of your favorite brands? Give an example.

I’m trying to find similarities of me and the strategy of selling that the Jones family used but I couldn’t find one. But my best friend convinces me to buy jewelry from the same store she got them. she showed me her stuff couple of time than I got the feeling of pleasure if I got myself some bracelet. She took me to the same store, but she helped me bargained the price, so she did it because she loved me not to sell me something. My friend was advertising for that shop for free.

  • Based on what you read in the course materials and what you observed in this movie, do you think the way products are marketed in this movie is ethical?

There are two separate issues in this movie. The first one is pretending to be happy family. The whole scenario was not appreciated because it makes the surrounding people feel like they are looser. If we will not discuss this problem, the second issue is testing the product, where the cloth for advertisement and feed your guess a frozen food to show them how it is delicious it is not a bad idea for promoting and advertising a product.

  • How would you feel if you were friends with someone in the Jones family before you found out their secret? What about afterward?

If I was a friend with the Jones family before I found out their secret Nothing will change in my life. Leaving in New York is an opportunity that no one have it in the world. I have friend from all over the world in my Neiborhood, I’m enjoying the international food, learning about different culture and most of us trying to succeed on his own way. So, the Jones family will not be successful in Brooklyn.

“The Joneses “

  • Would you categorize the way the Jones family lives as personal selling? Why or why not?
  • I would characterize the Joneses family as personal selling, one hundred percent. The Joneses at a unique and sale-driven way of selling their products but using the face-to-face method which is allowed them to maximize their sales numbers and profits. They had a very effective way because for one the family had the newest of products and just had to work with the persuasion and promo details to lure the customers into buying the product. Honestly, the strategy they used is amazing not only that but the fact that they work as a team to help build one another to get the numbers skyrocketing.
  • What similarities do you see between the sales tactics the Jones family employs and the marketing tactics of some of your favorite brands?
  • Give an example. I see very similar tactics such as doing everything possible to get the sale. One thing I realize is that the sexual content and the romance between the parents were something that helped bring in the gentlemen to buy products that were being sold by Mr. Jones. Let’s get back to the point that they used tactics such as marketing campaign, figuring metrics, creativity, targeting the correct demographic, Ideal location. The joneses explored every single one of these tactics and made it better, they always found a way to improvise. The family was great at selling amazing pitches and creating that repour with clients and the community that they have built.
  • Based on what you read in the course materials and what you observed in this movie, do you think the way products are marketed in this movie is ethical?
  • Yes, because they used very traditional face-to-face selling methods, but it was used in very unconservative ways, but it was still ethical. I do believe that they could have fixed the rate at which they were persuading people because, at the end of the show, someone lost their life because of falling for all the joneses’ tricks and new gadgets. Overall, I do believe that it was ethical, and the family just had the right coaching and a very good strategy when it came to their promotion and product pitches.
  • How would you feel if you were friends with someone in the Jones family before you found out their secret? What about afterward?
  • I would feel no way because I understand that everyone must make their money. I do agree with others that it is very hard to be fooled by your neighbors and find out that they have no real family ties. However, from a business standpoint, I understand, and I am not mad or have feelings towards the way they decided to operate as a family business. I truly would want to learn some of their, marketing, planning, and promotion strategies seeing that I am into business entrepreneurship myself.

New Ideas, New Channels

  1. For the first example, what were the main reasons that the firm reversed its decision and returned to its initial channel mix?
  • The firm reversed its decision because they thought that selling the jeans discounted wouldn’t only bump sales but help bring in new consumers who would love to purchase the jeans but at a discounted price. After a while and with little no change the film realized that it wasn’t their best idea and decided to return to their traditional channel, in the way of marketing their product. I believe that every company does this in the sense of seeing what works or what doesn’t work, and it’s not a bad thing.
  1. Do you agree with their decision?
  • I do agree because enow going back to their traditional ways will allow them to still have sales coming in and making profit while revising and creating a new plan to market and launch another way to market and promote their products to increase sales profit
  1. In the second example, do you agree with their choice of channel for their new watches? Why?
  • Yes, I agree because it’s a channel that is already made and established. The brand is using a different name, yes but having the watch connected to the original brand is amazing. Using the traditional method isn’t a bad idea and with many people knowing that the new watches are somewhat connected to the Swiss brand may have a ripple effect and bring in more sales because of brand loyalty but also the price.

  1. Do you think that most of their existing jewelry stores will be willing to stick and sell these new watches?
  • Yes, indeed but they have more potential of selling the watches to discount stores and retail places that many consumers look for the best deal in a great product. Everyone loves a discounted watch that Is very well connected to a brand but more importantly good quality. I see Swiss ideas and strategies as a new way to bring in cash but also a new product line added to their product mix.
  1. What other channels (retailers) should they also consider?
  • They should consider, Walmart, TJMaxx, Amazon, JCPenney, and there are so much more to add to the list, but this Is a great start. They have a great market to vendors too and it’s incredible.

The Joneses

Would you categorize the way the Jones family lives as personal selling? Why or why not?

I feel like it’s a complicated question because in the Jones family a lot of things happen. But, I think for the most part they do a good job at personal selling. They all make people around them feel no pressure in buying their products because they are good at convincing and influencing people. The Joneses had conversations which is a common technique to influence or make sales. But what they are mostly doing is selling products as a team. For that reason they aren’t doing personal selling.

What similarities do you see between the sales tactics the Jones family employs and the marketing tactics of some of your favorite brands? Give an example.

The similarities that I see between the sales tactics the Jones family employs and the marketing tactics some of my favorite brands use are persuasion. And the personal selling techniques they use are conversations which build up relationships and demonstrations which demonstrates how a product works and the benefits that it offers.

Based on what you read in the course materials and what you observed in this movie, do you think the way products are marketed in this movie is ethical?

I don’t think the way the products are marketed in this movie is ethical because they lied to people about them being a family so that they can help raise their sales.

How would you feel if you were friends with someone in the Jones family before you found out their secret? What about afterward?

If I were friends with someone in the Jones family before I found out their secret I would just think they are kind people recommending me products. But if I found out about their secret after persuading me to buy their products, I would feel used and sort of betrayed.

Philanthropy At Its Best

A product I genuinely like is handbags, I get all my handbags from Aldo, and I really am in love with their bags. I recently saw that Aldo has a winter collection and I am very excited. The promo this winter is that you can pre-order the deals and get them before which is amazing. The business is amazing at having great deals but more importantly bringing out great collections.

The business is still promoting their “Cinderella Collection” that focuses on the fairy tale “Cinderella”. They use social media platforms such as Facebook, Google, and Instagram to do most of their promotions and get the news out to their customers. One other thing is news advertisement, and mails in promotions which the company uses as another form of promotion which helps a lot.

Let me give you more. The brand doesn’t only just sell, they do a great amount of humanitarian work which I find is great and applies perfectly to this. Aldo has been a staunch activist against AIDS since the mid-eighties, donating 100 percent of the proceeds from dedicated products to local and international HIV/ AIDS programs, as well as making annual charitable donations. This is amazing, the company promotes their philanthropy also through google and created a site specifically for the many good things that they are doing.

Aldo have so many events that they host and so much of them is giving back to the communities and helping those in need and I am very happy to shop with them and be a part of the journey.

Also, please if anyone wants to donate because AIDS/HIV is a serious matter and very important so every donation will help

Consumer Decision Making

After moving to Salt Lake City I decided to explore the neighborhood and go out to eat, since there were many Italian restaurants I made a list of them to help me look for a formal place that I could try something new in. Stanza Italian Bistro is a classy place in which you can dine in, the staff wears masks and follow health and safety procedures. Michelangelo’s On Main is a casual pizza place. Lastly, Olive Garden also has health and safety protocol, is family-friendly, and offer no-contact delivery. The one that stood out to me the most was Stanza Italian Bistro (rating:4.4; $$$) so I went on Yelp and looked at their reviews and images customers had uploaded, I could see that people were satisfied with the excellent quality and quantity of the food and service of the place.
At the restaurant I chose Arancini which was Italian sausage, mozzarella, Arborio rice, pecorino, pesto, and chiffon. Next, I ordered a Tomato Basil Soup which was thick and creamy. I could taste all of the ingredients, the food was very flavorful and service was great, the staff was kind and welcoming. The atmosphere was very relaxed, had a spacious lounge, bar, and a nice scenic view outside.
I would definitely come back to try their Rigatoni Fra Diavolo with shrimp(spicy) since this plate was also highly recommended in the reviews. “One of my new fav pasta in the whole Valley…” -Megan S.

SPARKETH

Personally speaking, I believe “Sparketh” was a pitch that truly resonated to me for many reasons for instance: the inclusion of education to those who wish to learn about art at a young age for a small price to pay. In addition, it is online, it doesn’t have a time in where one must be regulated, it is flexible to the individual’s needs. Sparketh can lead to numerous future artists, artists that express themselves through their own work, work with feelings and meaning. However, i do believe that Sparketh can change in a few aspects, such as the resources, age limitations, and better services. I feel like Sparketh solely basing itself on Artistic features is just fine but it’s an app, a concept, that can be further developed, stretched to fit the needs of education for more than just art. Possibly to learn languages, mathematics, children academic from kindergarten to fifth grade, middle school basics (6-8) and basic high school academics that may be used for future references. Sparketh can be a place to further deepen a child’s knowledge and shouldn’t be limited. I also believe they can come up with a better layout or organization on their website making a bit more open to a better audience instead of just children like i mentioned before. I also think they should work on their sales more on how to properly advertise instead of relying on close home families near their location as without sales their business wont flourish. Overall, I am a fan of their idea but it could use some changes for it to improve.

You Can Now Invest In The Planet While Online Shopping With The Shop App

Download the app today and start planting trees with every online purchase you make! Each time you check out with Shop Pay, we will calculate the carbon dioxide emitted from the delivery of your order and match that to the number of trees needed to plant. This is estimated based on transportation method, package weight, and delivery distance.

We partnered with WeForest and so far have been able to restore 1,000 hectares of mangroves, which will “increase forest cover, boost fish stocks, and shellfish populations, as well as create sustainable harvesting opportunities that will provide regular incomes to the local fishing communities in Senegal, Africa.” These mangroves are expected to absorb 2219,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide offsetting CO2 produced by deliveries made in 2021 and 2022.
