After moving to Salt Lake City I decided to explore the neighborhood and go out to eat, since there were many Italian restaurants I made a list of them to help me look for a formal place that I could try something new in. Stanza Italian Bistro is a classy place in which you can dine in, the staff wears masks and follow health and safety procedures. Michelangelo’s On Main is a casual pizza place. Lastly, Olive Garden also has health and safety protocol, is family-friendly, and offer no-contact delivery. The one that stood out to me the most was Stanza Italian Bistro (rating:4.4; $$$) so I went on Yelp and looked at their reviews and images customers had uploaded, I could see that people were satisfied with the excellent quality and quantity of the food and service of the place.
At the restaurant I chose Arancini which was Italian sausage, mozzarella, Arborio rice, pecorino, pesto, and chiffon. Next, I ordered a Tomato Basil Soup which was thick and creamy. I could taste all of the ingredients, the food was very flavorful and service was great, the staff was kind and welcoming. The atmosphere was very relaxed, had a spacious lounge, bar, and a nice scenic view outside.
I would definitely come back to try their Rigatoni Fra Diavolo with shrimp(spicy) since this plate was also highly recommended in the reviews. “One of my new fav pasta in the whole Valley…” -Megan S.

consumer decision making process
I just moved to Salt Lake City for work. I have never been or lived here, and I am looking for a fine Italian restaurant. I’m in the mood for pasta, and I feel like ordering spaghetti pomodoro. Since I am not familiar with the area I would like to order from a restaurant that offers home delivery. Also, I would want to order from a restaurant that’s affordable .
Now, I will start my search for my restaurant ! Since I am not familiar with the area and I don’t know where things are, I will make use of technology and search for Italian restaurants in Salt Lake City in google maps. I have come across a few Italian restaurants such as Valter’s Osteria,Stanza Italian Bistro bar, and Brio Italian Grille. I look for their reviews and they all have pretty good reviews , But Now I have to look for affordability. The one that has pretty good reviews and it’s affordable for me is the Brio Italian grille. The review is of 4 stars out of 5 . The reviews were very important in helping me make a decision .

“ I highly recommend it !!”
I made up my mind and called Brio Italian grille and ordered my spaghetti Pomodoro. They told me My order would be $15.99 plus $5.99 for delivery, so in total it was $21.98. I was Happy to pay that price because it was very affordable for me .
This purchase met my need as a consumer because it was a fine Italian Restaurant, the price was affordable and the food tasted delicious. Also, the delivery was very fast. I, as a customer, am very happy with my purchase.
In conclusion, I have always used the consumer decision making process Without even noticing. Whenever I buy something I always look for reviews and affordable prices . In this module I have learned about the importance of the consumer decision making process. We as customers need to be aware and informed about the products we want to buy.
Consumer Decision Making
Today I visited an Italian restaurant. Honestly, I don’t really eat Italian food and just wanted to try something new. So I figured why not grab something while staying in Salt Lake City. My friend recommended doing some research before anything else, so I hopped onto google search and found three different ones in my area; Rusted Sun Pizzeria, Seasons Plant Bases Bistro and Robintino’s To-Go Sugarhouse.
They all gave me interesting options, Rusted Sun Pizzeria offered dine Curbside and the menu looked great. The price was moderate ($$) and there was no website about the restaurant itself making it hard for me to properly see the menu. Seasons Plant Bases Bistro had take out, no contact delivery, vegan, LGBTQ+ friendly and had a 4.8 review and the price was moderate ($$). Robintino’s To-Go Sugarhouse also had take out and delivery and the menu was large with lots of options, the price was also reasonable ($) however there was barely any reviews for them.
It was a tough decision to make but my preferences are easy to please as long as the food looks good. I eventually decided to give Rusted Sun Pizzeria a chance. The 845 reviews with pictures made up for the lack of a website, the food looked amazing. They don’t deliver however that just gave me a reason to get out and get used to the area more. The food was tasty, I enjoyed the killer cheese dip and my friend gobbled the buffalo chicken calzone down.
The Consumer Decision Process
Arriving in Salt Lake City and I am happy to finally get a vacation. The ride so far wasn’t bad at all. Being vegan, I had to do extra research on where I can get dinner because I am starving and need food that catered to my lifestyle. I’m in the mood for Italian food and am excited to see what I can discover.
My process as a consumer who does not know the area or the food that will be served was more worried about if there will be an option for me if I sit at a restaurant in Salt Lake. So, I had to dig deeper, I searched up vegan Italian restaurants in Salt Lake City to see what my options are while vacationing in the beautiful city.
I wanted to sit and view the scenery and the restaurant had just the right view. And the prices were even more worth it.
After looking up restaurants near me I found a specific restaurant that catered to me, and I was excited to eat there. Zest Kitchen & Bar was colorful but caught my eyes because it gave multiple different options of food choices. The restaurant had mostly four and five-star ratings and very amazing reviews. Some of those reviews were helpful in my decision to eat there. For example, one customer said “Absolutely delicious food! Doesn’t matter if you’re vegan or vegetarian. The flavor combinations are so wonderful. We tried avocado salad, creamy carrot soup, nachos, and a brussels sprout appetizer. I can’t wait to go again and try even more.” What an awesome review.
I was seated with a warm and friendly welcome and although the restaurant had a lot of class it was still between formal and causal which gave a very chill vibe. This feeling and customer care made me one hundred percent sure that I made the right purchasing decision, and I was eager to eat and explore the many options. I will be enjoying the BBQ Jackfruit Pizza, tiramisu “cheese” cake, Cuban tacos. The menu had so many great choices and I was ready to order it all lol but what an amazing experience I enjoy it.
The consumer-making process is a very strategic process meaning there’s a lot of research and thinking involved in it. Also having the internet and other technology factors where we have digital and platforms where we can see reviews which helps a lot in the purchasing process. My preferences differed to many consumers because veganism is something that was always around but not as popular so now because the healthy way of living is now a big trend worldwide it’s a different perspective for many also. Now bot only me but many consumers see the new and enhanced menus that are now way more diversified.
Consumer Decision Making.. Salt Lake
I have decided that on one specific night I would like some Fine dining Italian cuisine. I do like authentic Italian restaurants. Now Pasta, or Lasagna would be my go-to. Since the restaurant Valtersosteria serves one of the best Home-made lasagnas with an amazing special sauce I had too. Picking up my order was not a problem since it was just a couple of blocks down the road from where I was staying. But as I mentioned it was a lovely fine dining restaurant and it was slightly on the pricier side but so worth it.
So, this restaurant was surely not at first my first choice but since I had a longtime friend who lived out in Salt Lake, she herself as a foodie, recommended Valtersoseria out of the 3 Italian restaurants we have been looking at via google reviews within our neighborhood. Knowing that many restaurants within the area had some kind of fusion of Italian and Greek or just pizza, It was not a tough decision since that specific night I felt like having Lasagna.
As for me the consumer decision process was very relatable, I do the same with some of my friends who visit me in South Africa, and I would recommend the top places for them to dine at and have them decide by the desired cuisine they preferably would like to have. I tend to think that we trust our friends’ opinion more than reviews at times when it comes to curtain decision making.
Now what grasp me to this place was that this restaurant had a story behind it like many, but his mark to the establishment was that it had his mother’s recipes and most importantly a sauce she created and he now sharing this with thousands of people each year.
As I mentioned earlier my friend recommended this place, and she knew how much I liked homemade style Italian food and that made me choose Valtersoseria and will here on out recommend.

Salt Lake City
During my stay at Salt Lake City, I am looking to try new restaurants that I can order food from I be looking for all different types of cuisines especially Italian food.
I started looking up different food place using google maps, there were many restaurants to choose from some of them were close to my hotel and many of them did not have the delivery option.
While searching for the restaurants was looking for casual food that could be delivered to my room and would also be affordable and within my budget. There were many options to consider from, but those restaurants did not have good rating or people that gave them ratings were under 500 which made me think that the food or the service might not be good because people were not giving it ratings and engaging with the restaurant. After doing a lot of research and spending almost an hour there were many restaurants that had amazing food which were Stoneground Italian Kitchen, Buca Di Beppo Italian Restaurant and Tuccis Cucina Italian. But the one that attracted me the most was Olive Garden Italian Restaurant because it had a 4.4 rating out of 2,387 total ratings. The reviews on the restaurant were “The food is good. Very good service. Social distancing well maintained” while reading this review it gave me confidence that the restaurant is following the CDC guidelines and maintain social distancing and the risk of getting Covid is reduced at that restaurant.” The other reviews that I read was “Lunch menu is good price-to-quality. A pasta, bread and salad or soup is only ~15 dollar.” After reading “Got takeout. Fast easy and good food as always.” These reviews confirmed that the food is not too expensive, and the takeout is quick and smooth so I would not have to wait too long receive my order.
After reading the reviews when I looked at their menu I saw a lot of different options like chicken alfredo, tour of Italy and there was also an option to create your own pasta and they gave you five different types of pastas, sauce, toppings, and salad dressings to choose from if you had specific requirements and the price was under $15.This restaurant also had a variety of cakes to choose from in case I started to crave for desert.
While I was placing my order at Olive Garden Italian Restaurant, I choose to opt into their text messages service where they were giving me updates on the process of my food, they were telling if the order was being cooked, packed, picked up and delivered. After the delivery of my food, they also sent a link to survey where I was able to rate their service.
During this process I learned a lot of new stuff, like people not only look at the ratings but they also look at how many ratings the place has for example a resultant could have a 5/5 rating but only 2 people might have given that rating, which means that having a good rating and total number of ratings also matter. Another thing I learned was that sometimes you might not be satisfied by the rating but when you are reading the reviews they help you get a better understanding of the place.
Consumer Decision Making
As I am new to Salt Lake City, Utah, and rarely eat Italian food, so I have to turn to the internet for help. Meanwhile, I don’t really like going out, for this reason, the restaurant should offer delivery.
First of all, I will start by searching for the best Italian restaurants in Salk Lake City Utah on google. I click those restaurants that google shows on me one by one to check the food picture which is the client post into google. Then, when I found which one I like, the next step is checking their reviews and ratings of the restaurant. Personally, I prefer some restaurants which rating is higher than 4.5. If the ratings are not up to my standard, it may affect my dining experience.
I finally choose two restaurants. One is a pizzeria and the other provides varied Italian food. Italian food includes many kinds, but as a result of my taste is more Chinese, I finally choose pizza as my staple food. Base on these reasons, I pick a restaurant named “Seasons Plant Based Bistro”
The rating of this restaurant is up to 4.8, it is a perfect rating for me. Moreover, this restaurant also provides delivery and the most important reason I choose this one is its price is very reasonable. The cost of this restaurant is $11-$30. That’s in my comfort zone compares with other Italian restaurants. In addition, the flavor of Hang Loose makes me really enjoy it.
Some people will think some restaurants with higher prices will be good choices, That’s what sets me apart from them. During the process I choose a restaurant, I found that restaurants with high ratings and good value would be my main consideration.
What I realize in the consumer decision-making process is the process is a good description of the consumer’s psychology. Consumers are demanding but patient about the products they consume and When consumers feel happiness from the products they buy, they are willing to give a good evaluation to the manufacturers of the products.
Consumer decision making
While visiting Salt lake city I was looking for a vegetarian restaurant that offered a variety of comfort foods because my family and I are vegetarian.
I started by searching for the top rated vegetarian restaurants in Salt lake city. This has been my first time visiting, so I resorted to using google. After searching for vegetarian options, I came across a long list of restaurants in the area. After browsing through that list I saw many delicious options, such as Zest kitchen & Bar, All Chay, and Buds, but only one offered the type of food I was looking for. That restaurant was called Lil’ Lotus.
I went on to look at the rating of this restaurants which happened to be 4.7 stars with 223 good google reviews. Which is what I tend to used to make my final decision when looking for a place to dine or get take-out from.
Reviews such as “love their food!! my favorite restaurant by far! HIGHLY recommend the burger with not-yo cheese sauce instead of the daya, it’s 10/10, all my family agrees! my whole family absolutely loves this restaurant and is pretty much the only place we go to eat out now, and for the last couple years. the burrito is also supperrrr good, and my parents quite enjoy the tacos. even my brother who “hates” vegan food loves lil lotus (especially the burger) haha! ☺️ best restaurant in all SLC!” by Dollie and “Great food! Everything I’ve gotten there has been 5 stars.” By Kevin are what made me make my ultimate choice.
On their menu, online I saw that they offered foods such as plant-based tacos, burgers, mac ‘n’ cheese and Carrot and Parsnip Fries, which is exactly what I was looking for. While looking at they’re menu I also took note of their prices, which were very reasonable with all their items being between $4 and $15.
What I realized about the consumer decision-making process is that it is very beneficial to take these steps when making any sort of choice. This way we cover all the basis at hand and won’t have any surprises or disappointments with our final decision. My preferences may be different because of the particular food and options I am searching for.
Consumer Decision Making
For my stay in Utah, I wall be staying at the Salt Lake City Marriott City Center. When looking for restaurants I always search with these factors in mind: distance, pricing, customer reviews, and menu selection. So, I went directly to google and searched 84111 (hotel’s area code), Italian Restaurants. Distance is always the number one factor for me. I can save money on transportation and/or gas if I can walk to the restaurant. The search showed a little over a dozen Italian restaurants that I would be able to walk to in minutes. Usually when traveling I like to keep a budget. Therefore, I typically go for locations that have a casual setting because they are often less expensive.
One thing I love about google searching restaurants, is that you can filter the search to your specific wants and needs. So, I filtered my search from $(very inexpensive) to $$$ (about moderately priced). This narrowed down the selection to about have of what the original search showed. I then filtered my search even more by using ratings. I only wanted restaurants that had at least four-star overall ratings from customers. I’m a firm believer in rating and reviews. After all the filtering, three restaurants stood out to me: Stoneground Italian Kitchen, Cannella’s, and Vento Ristorante Italiano.
My next step was to look at the menus to see the selections and pricings. This is when I noticed Cannella’s was temporarily closed. This left me with only two options. Both were in walking distance and had above average ratings. However, while looking at the menus I noticed that Stoneground did not have wine on the menu. Because of this I choose to dine at Vento Ristorante Italiano. This restaurant met all my needs. It was a little more expensive and farther than Stoneground, but they served wine and had more desserts to choose from.
During this process I realized how picky consumers can be. I never realized how often I filter my searches when ever I’m looking to shop or travel. Companies like google, expedia, and amazon have these filters so that the needs of almost any consumer can be met. Everyone’s preferences and standards are different. Someone could do the exact same search as I did and end up dining at a completely different restaurant.
Consumer decision making
Moving to a new place is a new experience in our lives. Before I decided to move to Utah, specifically to Salt Lake City I had no idea about what this place looks like, so asked my friends for any information that they could help me with, to adapt fast there and to have an impression on how this place looks like, and the lifestyle of it, but this strategy didn’t go well, as none of my friends had an idea about it. so, I did some research about the place, fortunately I found a website that shows everting I would know about the cities that you want to visit in Utah, and Salt Lake City is one of them.
My first impression about it was decent, I was excited to go there as soon as possible, based from the description on the website seems as a quite city, a touristic one, it has a lot of restaurant too, and this sentence brought my attention that it says;” At the north end of the valley in Salt Lake City proper you will find the highest concentration of restaurants and bars that complements the most options for world-class, arts, culture, and entertainment.” Which made me so motivated to try some of those restaurants.
Thus, I moved to my new city it was so cool as I assumed, the weather, and people everything is terrific. Fortunately, that day the weather was good for going out, and I didn’t want to miss the chance to try one of the restaurants here, so I deiced it to go to an Italian restaurant, first thing I did I asked some of the locals, I saw this strategy it might help me quick to get my ideal option, but I got a lot of restaurant names, that confused my decision on which one I should go to, so I took those names and started doing a research about them, I found all the restaurant good, but the one that has my attention more, it is “Valter’s Osteria”, and the reason why I have chosen this restaurant, because I’m that type of person if I want to go to any restaurant, it has to present the real ethnic of that place, it’s not just using the name of it and pretended that you belong to that place, I like to have that feeling of not just eating food, also to make me be part of that culture, it’s like I’m traveling to that country, I looked at their Instagram account when I saw those photos the restaurant look exactly Italian, the designee, the food, even the owner his a pure Italian, with the fancy clothes and elegancy that Italian people have.
when I got there, I was amazed I loved the designee look so simple and classic, I felt like I’m in those Italian mafia movies, and as you know every time you hear Italian food it comes automatically to your mind pizza and pasta, so I tried this recommendation on the menu as follow:
- PASTA AL FORNO VERA: Homemade Lasagna Served With my Mother’s Special Meat Sauce
- PIZZA CARNE: Butterflied, Pan-fried Center Cut Compart Natural Duroc Pork Tenderloin Served with Fresh Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, and Basil
- SALSICCE E MARE: Our Special Sweet Italian Sausage, Grilled Calamari, Mussels, Clams, Scallops, and Shrimp, Served with Sautéed Spinach.
To sum up, what I realized about my consumer decision-making process, it toke me time to made my decision but it’s worth it because I found the place that I was looking for after a lot of research about the place, of course when you try something for the first time you will have that feeling of doubt about the place or the food taste, all those questions will disturb your thoughts, but as I mentioned before, if it happened and I go to salt lake city, I’ll definitely visit this restaurant because the way how I see it, and how I described it, gave me a satisfaction about it.
and for my preferences comparing to other consumers, I believe it hard to find a real comparison, we might share same interest in several product but we can have different vision to it, like the example of this restaurant the reason why I chose it because for me I see it as a real Italian restaurant which reminds me of Italian movies and the Italian culture, some people they will simply go to it just because its Italian and they want to try Italian food, so for me I focus on small details when it’s about going to restaurant not only because of the food, also the atmosphere of that place it must present the real identity of that nation.
