My Teaching Philosophy

I believe that we all bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to ECE 209. I also believe learning is an active process; we co-create knowledge by connecting our insights, experiences, and understandings to those of others through interactions and exchanges. Therefore, my role is not to give you information or impart knowledge, rather to facilitate and cultivate in our learning community.

What does this mean?

  • I view us as a learning community — you are my colleagues — and I am learning from you
  • We will engage in group work during each session
  • I will ask questions (including when I give feedback on assignments) — but I often do not have the answers

Accessibility Statement

I strive to facilitate an inclusive and accessible learning community that embraces all members; dismantles barriers based on dis/ability, race, ethnicity, culture, language, age, religion/spiritual practice, sexuality, gender, gender expression, and other forms of oppression; fosters personal and professional growth and well-being; and enhances the infant-toddler workforce.

How I View My Roles

3) forming relationships in our learning community,

4) enhancing your skills as an early childhood professional,

5) refining your ability to think critically and be reflective.

I want you to be successful – in our learning community, but more importantly in life! If any issue is preventing you from fully demonstrating your abilities or participating in our learning community, please contact me as soon as possible! We will work together to facilitate your success!
