 Why did I choose this topic to advocate for?

  • I decided on this topic because children’s cognitive development shouldn’t have to suffer due to lack of funding, especially when being awarded a decent education is a priority in New York City Schools.
  • We are the children’s voices and supporters, so providing an adequate education for them is the least we can do. It’s important to me that children’s needs are put first.
  • I’m very big on education and having the proper support and guidance for the children will benefit them in the long run.
  • I’m an example of not having the right support whether it was with teachers and or at home.
  • Due to that my cognitive domain lacked and that’s why now, back in my school age days, and even now in college I struggle.
  • Cognitive development is what provides children with the means of paying attention to thinking about the world around them, where their information is gathered, absorbed, stored.
  • As a parent and upcoming educator, it’s Imperative that our priority be the children.

Why does this issue matter to me?

  • This issue matters to me because children’s education shouldn’t be secondary,
  • or ignored.
  • These circumstances are valid and value to me because children development,
  • should be considered first.
  • I have children growing up in the school system now and I would very much want them to be educated and provided with the resources and materials that fit their educational needs individually.
  • It’s important to me that children with special needs from others are also supported and provided with the services that are available and awarded to them.

How does this impact early childhood educators?

  • As educators they won’t be able to facilitate the foundation for future learning, behavior, and health.
  • This will also impact the educators in an area where they aren’t able to share, network, and most importantly remain current in their field.
  •  Educators fundings will also be at risk giving no room for resources materials, objects to help support the children within the communities.
  • It impacts early childhood educators because employers don’t have funds to hire teachers due to economic decrease.
  • Leaving educators jobless, not being able to support themselves and their families due to financial hardship.
  • Educators are impacted because they choose the field of teaching to help children and support their developmental domains.

 What are some resolutions to fixing this problem?

  • To provide New York City Schools with adequate funding to hire teachers at a decent pay rate, supply materials and objects.
  • Services for children who have special needs, that require additional support.
  • Offer programs in support of academic enhancement and provide tutoring for support,
  • Counselors to help keep a mental balance and maintain a safe place.
