How To Register For Spring 2022 Classes
Step 1: Get Prepared
Log in to Degreeworks and look at what classes you have left and fill out an advisement sheet. You can find the appropriate advisement sheet for your major below. Think about what you might want to do for the next semester.
Step 2: Get Advised
Everybody has an assigned faculty advisor. Email your advisor for an appointment, you can find their contact info below. If you don’t know the email or the name of your advisor, email HED@bmcc.cuny.edu.
Step 3: Registration
Register for classes on CUNYfirst. If your advisor has created a Plan in CUNYfirst, you can use the new Schedule Builder. It’s a tool that helps find open sections of all of the classes in your Plan so you can build your schedule quickly. You can also register individually for courses, instructions here.
There is also help with registration every week day:
Drop-in Registration Assistance
Monday – Thursday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Friday from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Go to Panther Station Virtual Desk
If you need to contact the Registrar’s office click this link.
Step 4: Financial Aid
You don’t have to pay for courses right when you register. In fact, you have to register first before any financial aid can be given.
The Financial Aid Office helps with money to pay your tuition. More information and how to contact them is here.
If you need to email them, send an email to finaid@bmcc.cuny.edu. Please make sure to include your CUNY ID, preferred mode of communication, and description of your inquiry.
Step 5: Pay for Classes
The Bursar’s Office is where you pay your tuition and other fees. You can contact them by email or phone:
Email: bursar@bmcc.cuny.edu
Phone: (212) 220-1300
You can visit their web site for Bill Payment Deadlines, Frequently Asked Questions and more.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be advised if I already know what classes I want to take?
Yes! It’s important that you meet with your HED Advisor every semester to be sure you are on the right track for graduation and taking the classes you need. You will also need to have an advisement hold removed from your account in order to register for classes. You may also learn about exciting opportunities that the department is offering!
What if I am unable to make it to campus to be advised?
No problem! All of our faculty advisors are offering virtual advisement via zoom.
Do I still need to meet with an HED Advisor if I’ve already met with an advisor from a specialized program, such as ASAP?
Yes! We recommend that ALL students meet with an HED Advisor to make sure they are currently on track with the correct classes.
How do I schedule an appointment with my advisor?
Your assigned Faculty Advisor will reach out to you with their availability via email. Make sure you check your BMCC email address frequently! If you have not received an email from your advisor by the beginning of Advisement and Registration, you can reach out to us at HED@bmcc.cuny.edu.
Can my advisor remove holds off of my account so I can register for classes?
Your faculty advisor can and will remove your advisement hold after meeting with them. Sometimes there are other holds on your account that will need to be directed to the appropriate office. Usually these holds are financial and you should reach out to the Panther Station for help.
